We are in charge of our own thoughts, feelings, and actions. Blaming someone else for how we behave is immature and unacceptable behavior. Children blame others for how they feel and as adults, we are in responsible for teaching them that we decide how we feel, but that's hard for adults to do when they too blame others for how they feel, think, and act.
Emotional Maturity is so many things in life, let alone within addiction recovery. Trauma from our childhoods' reaches out and snares us when we least expect it. At some point in our lives, we all began using as a solution to the emotional damage we suffered and when that solution became the problem it was too late to go back and choose a different direction.
Now that we have decided to start a new journey, on a new path, our life begins anew, though there are still issues we must move and grow through. These three keys will help us all be more grounded in our sobriety and recovery as we learn to flourish and rise from the ashes of addiction.
