Your brand is NOT a direct extension of your identity. It's a separate entity. So today, I'm walking you through some of the things that make it obvious to me that a business owner is experiencing unhealthy attachment to their brand.
It's a fine line, right? There's so much messaging about making your brand personal, staying consistent, etc. But it's so easy to take that advice too far and become inflexible in your approach. We break down five forms of attachment — to identity, visuals, knowledge, comfort, and audience — and discuss how each can hinder your brand's growth.
You can opne up opportunities for innovation when you see your brand as a product. For example, if Apple refused to innovate past the iphone 4 because they were too attached to the features of the past, they would be no where near as powerful as they are today. Just because something works today, doesn't mean it's going to automaticall work tomorrow.
