How important is it to have a thorough parenting plan if you are divorcing a narcissist?

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!

It is possible to limit the opportunities for your ex to file motion after motion (saving you money) and opportunities to exploit your niceness by creating a tight and clear parenting plan.  A clear and detailed plan will better protect you and your children.

Some tips and strategies shared in this episode are as follows:

• The importance of taking your time
• Learning to stop some of the people pleasing and conflict avoidance specifically when your attorney pushes back
• Predicting your ex partner's behaviors and perceived wins
• Planning for your child growing older with a progressive plan that speaks to needs at least 5 years in the future
• Not assuming your ex will ever be logical or that they know anything about parenting or your children
• Being proactive with your schedule
• Knowing your line in the sand and being on the same page with your attorney

In the beginning you likely feel overwhelmed and traumatized and just want some guidance.  Taking the time to create a thorough parenting plan is one of the best steps you can focus on to protect yourself in the long run.
