How To Cut It in the Hairdressing Industry

EP297: Why We Need to Bring Positive Awareness to the Hair Industry with Cos Sakkas

Listen Later

In this episode today, I’m thrilled to once again be joined by current British Hairdresser of the Year 2022 and Global Creative Director for TONI&GUY Cos Sakkas. Cos is passionate that we need to bring more positive awareness to the hair industry and how we can explore creative approaches to bringing more apprentices into it.

Our conversation revolves around the decline in apprenticeships within the hairdressing industry and how at TONI&GUY, they have taken proactive steps to address this issue head-on. Cos is keen to highlight the significance of providing young apprentices with valuable opportunities and equipping them with the necessary skills to excel in salon work. Something you’ll hear all about!

One of the critical aspects we discuss is the funding and support available for apprentices, as well as the noticeable quality improvement they are too experience after implementing comprehensive apprenticeship and training programs. Cos emphasises the unique benefits that come with being part of a renowned brand like TONI&GUY, including the unparalleled opportunities it offers in terms of education and growth.

While the changing hair industry faces many challenges, we explore the need to train apprentices to the same high standards within a shorter time frame. To adapt to the fast-paced content world, Cos is to suggest incorporating additional skills such as business acumen, social media expertise, and effective communication into the training curriculum. We delve into the idea of incentivising apprentices within the salon environment.

Theres so much covered, so be sure to stay tuned for an insightful discussions and engaging content for the current British Hairdresser of the Year, Cos Sakkas.
