The smear campaign can begin while you're in the relationship but most often occurs once there has been a breakup or divorce. The narcissist goes around town telling everyone horrible things about you. They go to your friends, family, co-workers...They go to their own friends, family and co-workers...They might smear you to your children and even strangers.
