Guys I had another episode that accidentally published early -even though I had wanted this one to be episode 14 in honour of Maddox' 5th Birthday today since it's the 14th and this was supposed to be episode 14 - but we are rolling with the double post this week! Being his 5th birthday... it felt right to share an episode about motherhood and some reflections I've had regarding what I wish I knew as a first time mom.

That so many things we worry about don't actually really prepare us for motherhood and some things I wish I knew as a first time mom that I thought may be helpful to share with others... like the physical things you need to be prepared, some info around nursing and breastfeeding, wellness checks, birth and so much more!

I feel like I have SO much to say and share around this topic and I could get a lot more specific in order to help and support mothers in this area as well.. feel free to answer the spotify poll to help me figure out what other info could be helpful for you to learn about and have me go more in detail about.

And most of all for all my new mamas.. give yourself grace and ASK FOR HELP!! Do not be ashamed to admit if you are overwhelmed or unsure about things! Your mama friends would be glad to help you.

+ If you're a mom and are listening.. just know its a journey and you're meant to evolve, change and grow - I didn't know everything I know now with my first 2 babies and theres SO much I would do differently with the next baby based on the knowledge I have learned since then.. so be kind to yourself - you are always doing the best you can with the information you have <3

This was my first guest episode I recorded!! I was so excited to have Tara Bosch - the founder of Smart Sweets. She has been listed in Forbes 30 under 30 and built up Smart Sweets to over 100 million dollars before the age of 30 which is a MASSIVE accomplishment.

She is also local to the Vancouver area, and we actually were connected because of my first bodybuilding coach Dawn Thornton and when she had started smart sweets out of her kitchen, my coach at the time had told me what she was working on! It is just so special to see how far she has come.

We talked through vision + how much having the vision and the belief within you really is the difference of what makes you successful… and how you MUST have a heart centred vision around service in order to be blessed with all of the abundance available to you. 

She is also a solo mama, who’s navigated a separation and motherhood while also building a massive multimillion dollar business. Just seriously so proud of her and loved chatting wit her about business <3 Hope you guys will love this episode as much as I did!

I talk about how some peoples drive for success can be out of a place of wounding, that eventually will lead to unfulfillment and burnout. 

Also.. identifying what are you chasing success for? Who is it for? Is it rooted in purpose and vision and mission? Or external material goods?

I also talk about how I chased allll the things society said I should chase in order to be deemed ‘successful’ and none of those things really lead me to a place of happiness or fulfilment. I achieved them sure but it wasn’t rooted in what I truly really wanted for me. 

also… the darkness of materialism and chasing Brand name stuff - and identifying where the desire is coming from. 

Identifying the things that reallllly matter to you and how those things are meant to be different amongst each other + how those thins that REALLY pain you can be the things that are related to your MISSION in life. 

Questions to Reflect On:

What we greatly overcome in our life is often a reallllly big clue. Often the hardships you’ve been through is on purpose so you can utilize that to serve humanity an help others overcome it

I feel like this is one of the most challenging decisions to make... but even more challenging when there are kids involved. It is so difficult and alll of the thoughts about what people might think or if youre ruining your childrens lives begin to pop in.

I get it. I had all of the same thoughts.. in this episode I just share some things I did to try to make the transition as seamless as possible while ensuring I kept priroitizing their well being above all else.

I also share how much they actually helped me to make this decision by thinking about what type of relationship I wanted my boys to grow up witnessing, as I know the impact it can have on what they accept in their relationships in the future or what they see as 'love' and 'partnership'.

It all starts with you and your decision to choose differently. We chat through childhood trauma, as well as how parenting allows us to also heal and reparent parts of our own inner child as we parent our children.
