We often hear triathlon referred to as a lifelong sport, and this week's guest, Mariana Andrade, is a great example of that. From beginning her journey in the sport as a teenager in Brazil, to then racing professionally in the 2000s, Mariana was a prominent name on the long-course scene. She then decided to step away from the sport in order to focus on her health and grow her coaching business, during which time she dabbled in racing as a pure cyclist. This year she decided to return to ironman racing, and did so with a bang- finishing second in Ironman Florianopolis!

In the interview she told us about her reasons for needing to step away from the sport, as well as her strong love for the competition and community that made her want to return. Mariana is proof that there is no "perfect" path to the top in elite sport, and that progress is not always linear. We can't wait to see what she accomplished on future races, especially when she toes the line in Kona this fall!

After Haley's race in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho this past weekend, she got the chance to record in person with fellow IronWoman, Sharon McNary, who competed in the 65-69 age group. Sharon told us all about her race experience including the 18 hour road trip from LA with her coach. She also tells us about her past races in CDA, and why she chose to come back to this course for her 15th full Ironman.

Haley also talks all about her race on this episode, and how she managed to dig herself out of a dark place mid-run, and rally for a 2nd place finish, securing her Kona slot! As well, our editor, Lydia Russell, joined us for the recording as she was in town to spectate. She shared her perspective on the race as a short course athlete watching an Ironman for the first time, and her hopes to compete at this distance in the future.

This week we had the pleasure of talking with Steph Jagger about the publication of her new book, Everything Left to Remember. In the book she chronicles her time exploring the national parks alongside her mother who had been diagnosed with alzheimer's. Although this book is very different from her first one, Unbound, she told us about the aspects of her life as an athlete that helped her in making the most of her time with her mother.

Steph shares her incredible perspective on the value of slowing down and remembering to appreciate the mundane moments in life. She also explains how she approaches transferring skills from various aspects of her life to others, how she used this time to unpack the emotional side of her childhood athletic experiences, and so much more that we can't wait to share!

Anna Strehlow is in her first year competing as a pro, and has stormed on to the scene. With top ten finishes in both Oceanside and Chattanooga, she has shown that she is certainly one to watch in races to come! In this episode she tells us all about how she got her start in triathlon after previously focusing on qualifying for Boston. Beyond that, she tells us about her training mindset and coaching setup that enable her to succeed as an athlete while working a full time job as well.

We also got to hear about her amazing performance last year as an age-grouper at Kona, where she placed third amateur overall! She talks about the emphasis she placed on fueling, how she set herself up to maximize her run, and so much more.

Katie Colville began her athletic career in gymnastics as a child, before getting in to triathlon at the University of Georgia in 2009. Since then, she's raced 19 ironmans, and qualified for both St. George and Kona as an age grouper.

In this episode she tells us all about the past two years of her journey during which she has made the transition form age group to professional racing. We got to hear about how things have changed for her since going pro, and on the flip side, what has stayed the same. Katie explains how she keeps a positive mentality now the she's become a "small fish in a big pond," as well as how she balances training with her day job.
