  • Why Anglophone separatists want independence in Cameroon
Over the past year, dozens of people have died in Cameroon fighting for the independence of an English-speaking area of the country, known as Ambazonia. Now their supporters are determined to turn their dream for independence into a reality. Ambazonia is a merging of two Anglophone provinces of Cameroon, a ghost state that separatists have dreamt of since the unification of the country 56 years ago. The drive for independence has been fuelled by a feeling of marginalisation amongst Cameroon's Anglophone community.
French and English are both official languages in Cameroon, but Anglophones still talk about being sidelined in their own country - Paul Biya's government is dominated by Francophones. In recent months, lawyers and teachers have protested against the alleged imposition of French in courts and schools, leading to hundreds of arrests and hospitalisations.
In this exclusive report FRANCE 24 met with those affected by this growing movement - from innocent children injured in conflicts over Ambazonia, to the independence leaders taking refuge in neighbouring Nigeria.

  • Middle East: Gaza's armed groups, a sticking point in Fatah-Hamas reconciliation
The process of reconciliation between the two rival Palestinian parties, Fatah and Hamas, is reaching a critical stage. Hamas is soon to hand over control of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority. But there is a major sticking point. What happens to the armed wing of Hamas and other armed brigades? Mahmoud Abbas wants the groups dismantled, but the militias, who number tens of thousands of fighters, are so far refusing to do so. Our team reports from the Gaza Strip. A program prepared by Yong Chim and Florence Viala

  • Video: Is Italy seeing a resurgence of fascism?
Authorities in Italy are concerned about a growing number of extreme right-wing groups who admire WWII-era leader Benito Mussolini and are nostalgic about his fascist regime. At a recent football match in Rome, images of Holocaust victim Anne Frank were used to troll a rival team. Our correspondent reports. A programme prepared by Yong Chim and Florence Viala.

How are they coping, two years on? Aurore Dupuis, Jean Barrère and Pierrick Leurent tell us their stories. A programme prepared by Wassim Cornet and Florence Viala.

  • A rare look inside the US 'Antifa' movement
The US antifascist movement has been around for decades. But it returned to prominence this summer after a far-right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia where a counter-protester was killed. Our reporter went to meet "Antifa" members, who are often reluctant to speak to the media. Those who agreed to talk to us assert that President Trump has emboldened neo-Nazis and white supremacists. In turn, the Antifa movement appears to be sliding further to the left.

Our Los Angeles correspondents report.

  • Video: Meeting Sudanese asylum seekers in Paris
For the past two years, the top country of origin for asylum seekers arriving in France has been Sudan. Many Sudanese say they have been forced to flee violence and extreme poverty in the Darfur region, but also political persecution. The UK had long been their preferred destination, but the closure of the Calais "Jungle" camp has made it more difficult for them to cross the Channel. Our reporters went to see how these asylum seekers are adjusting to life in northern Paris. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Laura Burloux.

  • Video: Photo project aims to combat anti-migrant bias
Saint-Martory is a small village in the south of France with a population of 900, where 43% of voters backed far-right candidate Marine Le Pen in the second round of France's presidential election. So when 50 asylum seekers arrived in the village last year, many locals didn't give them the warmest of welcomes. To try to change people's perceptions of the migrants, one photographer decided to bring together villagers and the new arrivals in frescoes where each person plays a role. The project, by photographer Patrick Willocq, led some of the villagers to strike up friendships with the new arrivals, even though others did not change their stance on immigration. FRANCE 24's team reports.
A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Jimena Morales-Velasco.
