  • Boko Haram refugees: Niger's 'silent humanitarian crisis'
The humanitarian situation on the Niger - Nigeria border is one of the nine most neglected crises worldwide. Hundreds of thousands of people are displaced after fleeing the war against Boko Haram. But the threat from terrorists is ever-present, as they often manage to infiltrate within the local population. Nigerian authorities have come up with a new strategy to fight this war against extremism - amnesty for Nigerian jihadi fighters to incite them to desert. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Laura Burloux.

  • French hospital at forefront of fight against domestic violence
As we mark International Women's Day, we take a look at efforts to combat domestic violence. In France, just like in the rest of Europe, domestic violence remains the leading cause of death for women aged 16 to 44. By its very nature, domestic violence is hidden, meaning reaching out to victims is difficult, and part of the problem is a fear of speaking out. But one hospital in the northern French city of Boulogne-sur-Mer is taking a proactive stance to help victims, both medically and legally. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Laura Burloux.

  • What will happen to invisible Ireland-UK border after Brexit?
The invisible border between Northern Ireland and the Republic is the one place in Europe where the United Kingdom and the European Union physically meet. With the government in London poised to start the process of leaving the EU, the prospect of the border becoming a physical reality once again is a worry for many. Our reporters went to meet with local residents. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Ellen Gainsford and Laura Burloux.

  • Paris attacks: Meeting the forgotten victims of the Saint-Denis police raid
Just a few days after the November 13 terror attacks, a large-scale police raid took place in the northern Paris suburb of Saint-Denis. French intelligence had received a tip-off that the suspected ringleader of the attacks was hiding in a residential building and police stormed the block of flats. Many residents were evacuated from their homes. More than a year on from that traumatising night, some say the state has still not helped them to find a new home. Our reporters went to meet them. >> On France24.com: A year after Paris attacks, those living near site of anti-terror raid feel forgotten

  • Factory farming on the rise in France
The French farming industry is slowly splitting down the middle: while a growing number of consumers are turning to organic foods and supermarkets are increasingly catering to that trend, industrial livestock projects have also been multiplying across the country. • On the desert road with migrants in Algeria
Algeria has been receiving increasing numbers of migrants on its southern border, deep into the Saharan desert. A programme prepared by Josh Vardey and Laura Burloux.

  • The return of Japan's imperialists
Nippon Kaigi, or the so-called Japan Conference, is the country's most influential conservative lobby. Its members deny Japanese wartime atrocities and want to create a new nation centered on the Imperial family. Now they oppose plans to allow Emperor Akihito to abdicate, possibly in early 2018. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Elise Duffau.

  • Paris suburbs simmer after police rape allegations
Widespread protests have spread in France over the past month after four police officers stopped a 22-year-old black man, known only as Théo, in a Parisian suburb and allegedly raped him with a baton. CCTV footage of the incident soon went viral, and the country's police force was once again criticised for brutality. Our journalists revisit Aulnay-sous-Bois, where the alleged incident took place, to gauge local reactions. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Laura Burloux.

  • America's future strategy in Southeast Asia? Local US allies keen for answers
It began as a bilateral drill between the US and Thai armed forces. Thirty-six-years later, Cobra Gold has ballooned into the biggest multinational military gathering in the Asia Pacific region. This year, 29 countries took part – with almost half of the troops present being American. It was also the first drill since Donald Trump became US president, offering up a golden opportunity for his Asian allies to get an idea of America's future strategy for the region. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Ellen Gainsford and Florence Viala.

  • France: Migrants offered financial incentives to return home
France is one of several countries in Europe that offer financial incentives to migrants who agree to go back home. The system is seen as one way of dealing with the migrant crisis, but is it a lasting solution to a real problem? According to French authorities, these incentive programmes are proving much cheaper than forced expulsions. This report takes a closer look at the issue. A programme prepeared by Patrick Lovett and Florence Viala.
