  • Control your emotions and actions or they'll control you, Ep15

Self-control is the ultimate expression of maturity and character in life. By using self-regulation (Intention - Attention - Distractions - Attitude) in your everyday life you will become more aware of why you do the things you do.

If we are experiencing completely unruly thoughts we will be living our lives like an emotional yo-yo.

Happiness and sadness come from past based thoughts.

Anxiety and fear come from future based thoughts.

Seeing where these above feelings and emotions come at us will help you place them in this model and better understand what it is you are feeling.

There is an INTENTION that underpins every action and every behavior in life.

    • what is the intention
  • what is the truth about the intention - why are we really wanting to accomplish something.
  • Once we understand what it is we are looking to achieve, that self-awareness will allow us to know if what we are actually doing will get us there.

Then we can focus our ATTENTION on what it is we want to achieve and are intending to accomplish - then evaluate and assess our actions to see if they are serving us toward that outcome.

    • to see if our Internal Representations are accurate or false

Then we evaluate or assess if there are areas in our life that are DISTRACTIONS to what it is we are working toward achieving.

    • we do not want the distractions to keep us from our goals
    • distractions can lead to blaming, finger-pointing

Then our focus and ATTENTION is on the DISTRACTION and we lose our sense of INTENTION

How we are moving through the other 3 will determine our ATTITUDE in this cycle.

An outcome you can have with this model is... If I can put these ideas into practice and self-regulate on my end then I can explain and teach this to others.

    • this comes from a place of strength and will bring about more of it in every area of your life.

THIS IS A PERPETUAL LOOP THAT GOES ON AND ON IN LIFE ALWAYS... LITERALLY ALWAYS

  • To burn or not to burn the bridge - How to mend or end relationships in life, Ep14

Don't fear rejection because it's not about you, it's about them.

    - You can not lose what you didn't have.
    - If the relationship is strained then you are at a crossroad and something has to be done.
    - DO NOT put other's needs above your own. It is time for you to heal and grow and move forward and step into a new you.

How would you act or respond in the conversation if you felt 100% WORTHY!?

    1. Why is it important

    • When you choose to make a drastic, life-changing decision, you will have to take inventory of the people in your life.
    • Are they going to support the new you?
  • Are they going to drag you down or back to your old ways?
  • Are they going to want to join you?
  • 2. What does saying goodbye look like?

    • It will end the way you set your intention for it to end.
    • you can NOT control how someone responds
  • you can only control the way you act and respond within the parameters of the conversation and moving forward when that person's name is brought up in conversation.
  • Set an intention for a positive outcome when you start the conversation with the person
    • Be honest
  • forthright
  • transparent
  • courteous
  • humble
  • gracious
  • 3. Do I burn the bridge, stop crossing the bridge, cross the bridge, or ignore the bridge?

    • You have to do what's best for you regardless of how it impacts the other person.
    • Saying goodbye to a parent, relative, best friend, friend or acquaintance will be difficult if you don't talk honestly with that person and let them know what you are thinking.

The person could feel owed an apology or a grand gesture. You will choose to make amends or not - and once you have made that decision and acted on it, if they are still unable or unwilling to see you differently then you will have to choose whether that works for you in this stage of your sobriety and recovery.

    4. How to have that conversation

    • Honestly and without a lot of emotional triggers.
    • If the conversation dissolves into an argument then nothing positive will be attained from that segment of the interaction.
  • Calm down, breathe - and reset
  • Realize you are arguing over the problem, not one another. The situation between the two of you is the issue at hand and calling back to memories of what each other did rather than figuring out better ways to deal with life moving forward will leave everyone chasing a tail that can't be caught.

    5. What if it doesn't go great or what if it does go great?

    • The conversation started as one where you are ready to cut ties with the other person for a period of time - a day, week, month, year, FOREVER.
    • If it ends in a hug, handshake, fist bump - or anything other than middle-fingers, physicality, and/or violence then consider that a win.
  • If it goes well then the friendship is ready for mending and you take it slow.
  • Prove to each other that this change is for real and that the sentiment shown in the conversation was real and lasting.
  • Thank you so much for listening and being a part of this wonderfully supportive community. No longer are we living in the shadows!

  • You are worthy of abundance, prosperity, and forgiveness BECAUSE of your imperfections, Ep13

We've made mistakes, hurt others, hurt ourselves - yes, we know there are many amends to be made, and many that already have been. These errors in our ways do not mean we are no longer worthy or entitled to abundance. We are human and we are perfect when we are acting and behaving imperfectly.

Failure comes from not learning the lessons we were offered through our actions that brought about negative outcomes. In fact, negative outcomes only stay negative when we don't learn the lesson the universe desired from us.

Abundance isn't taken from us because of our bad behaviors - we are just as worthy as anyone else and after this episode, you will realize that you are worthy of your own forgiveness first and everyone else's later.

  • How to relax, be in the moment and enjoy the journey, Ep12
At what age does someone go from having potential to having wasted that potential? It is not easy for me to take a day off. Self-care is one thing, just chilling around my house and turning off my brain is another. Here are MY keys to being in the moment.
You are done "wasting" time. You are sober now and you just bought back all that time from the future you would've been using.
Only the self, the ego, cares about the future or the past - the present moment is all that really matters so work focusing on that.
Get work done when you can and get some healing time in for you, your circle and work when it is time for that.
It is important that you heal, recover, and follow your program - whatever that looks like to you. It is equally important that you begin your growth, nurturing yourself toward the life you really want to live.
We all wasted a lot of time while we were using. Not that we are clean there is probably a sense of urgency to repair our relationships, get our lives back together and to get out job or career in order. Remember, you can only do so much today, so make a plan, stick with it and get yourself going toward the life you desire.
And be gentle on yourself. You are on the right path - this is a marathon, not a sprint. I'm really saying this to myself and thinking you could probably use a reminder too.
