Type A women (and often eldest daughters) can do anything except slow down, relax or relinquish control, am I right? Today, Louise and attachment psychotherapist Stephanie Therapy dive into the world of the Type A, eldest daughter woman: always on, always busy, always in control and subconsciously allowing these traits to filter into all areas of her life - love, lust, dating, partnership but also how we eat, spend, work, over work, recover and rest, too. The pair start by unpacking childhood patterning, mirroring, and the idea of the ‘family thermostat’ before moving into how these traits follow us into adolescent and adulthood. From there, we look at how they amplify further and at what point it becomes ‘too much’ or they are no longer serving us. The pair talk about what it really means to receive leadership without needing to micromanage everything (and how to incorporate this into their dating and love lives too). 

The pair shift into somatics for busy brains, why traditional meditation doesn’t always land for Type A women, and how subtle shifts - like micro-asks, polarity in relationships, nervous system cues, and language swaps-can create more space for support and receivership in your life.

Ya girl made progress! I took a day off, went shopping and did NOT go crazy. Today, I’m talking about something that feels so real for so many of us: shopping. Have you ever wondered why you splurge on things you don’t actually need (but in the moment it feels like you need them SO badly) and then sit with the guilt after? In this walk-and-talk, I jam on how much my spending habits have always been tied to my nervous system and how you probably experienced the same thing but didn’t know. I jam on a new term I’ve coined (somatic shopping!). I break down how fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses show up in our spending habits, I also go into the biology and neuroscience behind the “shopping high”, the dopamine anticipation loop, the cortisol spikes that feel like excitement, and the inevitable crash that often leaves us swimming in shame.I also share what it looks like when you start to somatic shop (yes, really) and what I mean by ‘embodied’ shopping. Big progress from me, and excited to walk and talk with you today as I share my learnings (and the one item that I DID buy… with zero regrets!).
