‘앗!’ 그녀가 말했습니다.

‘Alas!' said she,

'비호감 개구리씨, 당신은 나를 위해 무엇을 할 수 있나요?

'what can you do for me, you nasty frog?

내 황금 공이 샘 속으로 떨어졌어요.'

My golden ball has fallen into the spring.'

개구리가 말하였습니다.

The frog said,

‘나는 당신의 진주, 보석, 그리고 좋은 옷은 원하지 않아요.

'I want not your pearls, and jewels, and fine clothes;

그러나 당신이 나를 사랑한다면,

but if you will love me,

당신과 함께 살면서 당신의 황금 접시의 음식을 먹고,

and let me live with you and eat from off your golden plate,

당신의 침대 위에서 잠을 청하게 해주십시오.'

and sleep upon your bed,

그러면 제가 당신의 공을 가져다 드릴게요.’

I will bring you your ball again.'

‘말도 안 되는 얘기잖아.’

'What nonsense,'

공주는 생각했어요.

thought the princess,

‘멍청한 개구리가 말을 하다니!

'this silly frog is talking!

He can never even get out of the spring to visit me,

비록 그가 나를 위해 나의 공을 얻을 수 있을지라도 말이야.

though he may be able to get my ball for me,

and therefore I will tell him he shall have what he asks.'

So she said to the frog,

'Well, if you will bring me my ball,

The Frog-prince

어느 화창한 저녁,

One fine evening

젊은 공주는 보닛과 나막신을 신고

a young princess put on her bonnet and clogs,

숲으로 홀로 산책하기 위해 나섰어요.

and went out to take a walk by herself in a wood;

시원한 샘물에 이르러서는

and when she came to a cool spring of water,

그 한가운데서 솟아오른 곳에서

that rose in the midst of it,

잠시 쉬기 위해 앉았습니다.

she sat herself down to rest a while.

이제 그녀는 손에 황금 공을 들고 있었는데,

Now she had a golden ball in her hand,
