How do we forgive ourselves when we betray someone else's trust? How do we heal the feelings of anger, resentment, and self-judgement? How do we learn to trust ourselves again? In this episode, I answer two questions about how to rebuild trust in relationships and also with ourselves. I also discuss the importance of self-care when we are healing from hurting loved ones and why it is important to become self-aware regarding our actions. I also give a life-update at the beginning of the episode for anyone interested in what I've been up to between seasons 2 and 3.

I created a new website called Hum n Play. It has games and activities to help with the healing journey. Some are stress relievers, others are designed to help you reflect and connect with your emotion, and some are just plain fun. I consider it a science museum for the inner world because maybe through exploration you’ll even learn something about yourself.

This week I have a special guest, Dorothy Johnson, Breakup Coach and host of the How to Get Over Your Ex podcast. Dorothy shares her own relationship experiences and why she knows it is possible to heal and get over an ex. We also discuss why time isn’t always the answer when healing from a break up, and why self-love is so important when healing from an ex. We also answer listener questions, including how to move on, when to set boundaries, why the length of grieving is different for everyone, and what to do when your ex moves on and you find yourself missing them.

When it comes to religious and spiritual trauma, religious institutions, spiritual leaders, and family dynamics can lead to hurtful or abusive experiences that can leave lasting impacts. In this episode, we are going to discuss how to start healing from religious/spiritual trauma and empower yourself to develop your own relationship with a higher power (if you choose to do so). I will also talk about my own experience with religion and my path to reconciling my own core truth vs. my family’s. I also answer a listener question about someone who cheated on their partner and is experiencing “catholic guilt.”

Cheater’s guilt and shame are common feelings after infidelity, but are often misunderstood by social media and the movies. In this episode, my intention is to explore why the feelings of guilt and shame arise after someone cheats on their husband/wife/partner and my approach to processing the hard feelings so that you can focus on self-forgiveness and compassion. The first listener question is from someone who still feels unbearable guilt even though their partner forgave them for a drunken one night stand. The second listener question is from someone struggling with self-compassion and forgiveness after cheating on their partner. By the end of the episode, I hope you have a new view on infidelity.

Emotional abuse in romantic partnerships, families, and friendships can be scary and confusing because many forms of emotional abuse are subtle and committed by people we love. In this episode, my intention is to bring awareness to emotional abuse by discussing what it is, common warning signs, discuss what gaslighting is and why some people gaslight, and how it can look different in every relationship. I also answers two listener questions about healing from emotional abuse in relationships with romantic partners.

Trust in a relationship is built over time, but can be lost in a moment. When trust is broken, for example with infidelity/cheating, the feelings of betrayal can be intense and people often develop trust issues. But how do you re-learn how to trust yourself and your intuition? In this episode, you will learn how to start healing from the betrayal so that you can begin rebuilding trust in your relationship and with yourself. I also answer two questions, one from someone who keeps having their trust broken and feels like it is their fault, and another from a listener wondering if they can trust themselves to decide if they can trust someone who cheated on them.

The Father wound consists of unresolved feelings, pain, and wounding caused by your relationship with your father or a fatherly caregiver. Informally known as “Daddy Issues”, people downplay its impact on mental health for sons and daughters. In this episode, I explore the father wound, identify the root causes and symptoms of the father wound, and how it can impact your adult relationships. My mission for this episode is to help you bring awareness to your relationship with your father or father figure and teach you how to start healing your wound so that you stop playing out unhealthy patterns in your current relationships. I also answer a question from a listener whose father was absent and a question from a listener healing from an emotionally distant father after a divorce.
