On today’s Free For All Friday show Kate and I had a good time discussing many different topics related to health, stress and well being.

We have such a fun time on these shows. I hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoy recording them. 🙂

We’ve been getting lots of email in lately from people asking what we do on a daily basis to stay healthy. As a result we figured we should devote a whole Free For All Friday show to answer some of those questions.

It’s funny health is our default setting. It’s our natural birth right. It takes a lot of work and a lot of dedication to create sickness and disease in the body.

When you’re sick of if you’re working with (not battling or fighting – we never “fight” disease, we work with it for the best and most beneficial outcome) disease you obviously have much more work ahead of you than if you’re relatively healthy. If you already have health then it’s very easy to stay just as healthy or create what I like to call invincible immunity.

It’s kind of like keeping your feet warm in the winter when you’re in the house. Once you walk around with no socks on and your feet get cold, it’s really hard to warm them up again. It’s possible but it takes a lot of work. As long as you keep them warm it’s easy to keep doing so.

It’s the same with health. Don’t wait until you have to go to the doctors office and get some diagnosis. Don’t wait until you feel the lump in your breast or in your armpit. DON’T WAIT. Realize that given enough time (assuming you stay on the standard American diet) disease, sickness and illness WILL find you. Again it’s almost a default setting. With fast food, processed foods and their associated GMO’s, chemicals, pesticides and herbicides you will get a diagnosis. You reap what you sow.

Sow sickness today, reap the diagnosis tomorrow.

Most of the things we talked about in today’s show are super easy to do. They take very little time or even effort (how hard is it to put 4 dropper fulls of a liquid into an ounce of water and drink it 3 times per day?) and can help you achieve incredible levels of energy, vitality and long term health.

Workout

I like to workout and lift weights in the gym in order to stay strong and fit. So I talk about my current workout schedule.

Sauerkraut

Kate and I love to make sauerkraut for all the anti cancer benefits as well as the enzymes and probiotic qualities of this fermented food. If you want to learn how to make it you can check this out if you’re interested.

Mushroom tea

I like to make a reishi, chaga, rosemary, pine needle, goji berry tea and keep that cool in the refrigerator for the base of my smoothies. It adds a nice medicinal element to my drinks. You can get many of these herbs here.

Tooth care

Since all disease begins in the mouth according to many holistic doctors keeping good care of our teeth is very important and really easy. We brush with baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and sea salt.

Rebound

Rebounding is great to cleanse the lymphatic system and build bone density. I jump for at least 10 minutes each day. We recommend the Bellicon if you’re into the top of the line type of rebounder.

Meditate

Again I do this for 10 minutes per day. It’s a great way to clear the mind and let go. I HIGHLY recommend making this a part of your daily wellness practice.

Blue glasses

Blue light coming in from electronic devices like ipads, ipods and television (tell-a-vision) prevents you from making melatonin so you don’t get tired enough to fall asleep. Special glasses help to block that blue light.

2 smoothies per day

In my vitamix I make a green fruit superfood smoothie in the morning and a chocolate one in the afternoon. I add medicinal teas and superfoods to them for an added kick.

FAR Infrared Sauna

Sweating is great for removing heavy metals (think cancer and Alzheimer’s disease) and other toxins and poisons. I do it for 30 minutes per day. I rarely miss a day.

Skin Brushing

The skin is the largest organ of the body. Skin brushing helps to open pores, and shed dead skin off the top layer as well as increasing lymphatic flow. I do this before going into the sauna to increase sweating. It takes me about 45 seconds to get my whole body. Easy peasy.

Standing desk

I try to stand as much as I can during interviews as well as when I’m writing articles for the show. It’s great for burning calories and preventing heart disease.

Walking

I walk our dog Maggie Brown at least 2 or 3 times a day for a total of about 45 minutes at the bare minimum. Most times I do much more.

Juice per day

My goal is to get 1 fresh raw green vegetable juice in per day making sure it’s very low sugar. Here’s a really great juicer we recommend by Jay Kordich.

Inversion

I typically will invert 5 minutes in the morning when I wake up and 5 minutes before bed. It’s great for the back and circulation. If you’re interested in this you can also look into the Yoga Trapeze by Lucas Rockwood at Yoga Body Naturals.

Going to bed early

Sleep is critical. My goal is to be in bed by 10pm each night. Most nights it’s around 11:30. I’m working on it…

Water upon rising

I’ll drink at the minimum 8 ounces of water with lemon and/or salt in it. Helps to re-hydrate the body and flush out toxins as well as increase peristalsis for a bowel movement.

Liquid only Sundays

This is not something I currently do but it’s something Kate and I will be putting into practice very soon. Fasting is key for health.

Zeolite

I take my zeolite 3 times per day to detoxify heavy metals. According to my latest blood test I was very high in heavy metals.

Iodine

Iodine is very important to keep good hormone and thyroid health. The thyroid is the master gland that controls all your hormone levels.

Supplements

These change all the time. But I never eat a cooked food meal without taking enzymes and hydrochloric acid supplements along with probiotics. We take others but these are the staples.

Colonics

Every few months we get a series of a few colonics. Keeping good colon health is critical for your health. Some doctors say all disease begins in the colon.

Stretching

Every night before bed after my meditation I’ll watch a documentary and stretch for about 15 minutes. Talk about something that makes you sleep like a rock. Try it out. Stretch before you go to bed and you’ll see what I mean.

Grounding

Being grounded to the earth is very important to prevent electromagnetic radiation from affecting you as well as being plugged into the energy field of the earth. I walk barefoot as much as I can and have a grounding pad as a mouse pad.

Inspirational Quote:

No matter what happens, no matter how far you seem to be away from where you want to be, never stop believing that you will somehow make it. Have a unrelenting belief that things will work out, that the long road has a purpose, that the things that you desire may not happen today, but they will happen. Persist and persevere, your desired path remains possible. — Brad Gast
