In this episode, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Anna Solyóm, a Hungarian-born writer, psychosomatic therapist with expertise in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, as well as TRE® (Tension Releasing Exercises).

She is currently undergoing certification as a Compassionate Inquiry practitioner with Dr. Gabor Maté and Sat Dharam Kaur and is preparing for certification as a ritualist in Ancestral Medicine with Dr. Daniel Foor. Anna is also a Moon Mother®, offering womb healing and balancing sessions for women. In addition to her therapeutic work, Anna is a TRE® Trainer Trainee for Hungary and leads the International TRE® Provider Certification program for Hungarians. She has a Master's degree in Philosophy and has over 25 years of personal development experience.

Anna shares with us her personal journey into the world of embodiment and how it led her to discover her passion for biodynamic craniosacral therapy. She explains how this therapy focuses on the body's innate ability to heal itself and brings attention to the subtle movements within the body.

We also discuss Anna's travels around the world and how she incorporates her experiences into her work as a TRE® provider and Compassionate Inquiry Practitioner. She emphasizes the importance of bringing presence, stillness and empathy to our interactions with others, and how it can positively impact our mental and physical health.

Episode 2 - Zen Integration Bodywork ft. Ellen McKenzie

Welcome to Episode 2 of the Red Beard Embodiment Podcast!

In this podcast, Alex and Ellen McKenzie discuss how their paths intersected 10 years ago beginning a friendship and collaboration around exploring Zen and the body through the lens of traditional Zen training and the collection of somatic modalities offered through Red Beard.

Ellen shares about her personal journey that led her from competitive swimming, to yoga, to meditation, to Hanna Somatics and now Zen Integration Bodywork training with Alex.

They also discuss their collaborative SomaticZen zen intensive series they ran for several years leading up to the pandemic and how the pandemic has catalyzed important changes for them both.  Ellen has taken a deeper dive into formal Zen training participating in a 3-year priest training curriculum through Chosei Zen.  Alex has decided the time is right to synthesize his various bodywork training studies with his core Zen training background and offer a way of training in Zen through bodywork in a format called Zen Integration Bodywork.

Episode 1 - A Conversation about Zen Art with Author John Stevens Sensei


John Stevens Sensei is a Zen priest, a former University professor and teacher of Buddhist studies, and the author of more than thirty books on Zen, Buddhism, Aikido and Asian culture.
 
Born in Chicago and raised in Evanston, Illinois, Stevens Sensei made a life-changing decision to move to Sendai, Japan in 1973 to study Buddhism. It was during this time that he discovered Aikido under the guidance of Hanzawa Yoshimi Sensei and later Shirata Rinjiro Sensei.

Stevens Sensei went on to create his own distinct style of Aikido, called Classical Aikido. He has shared his teachings with people all over the world, making him a globally recognized authority on the subject.
