  • EP74 Fighting, Faith, Failure & Family | Lou Acott
Lou Acott is a Melbourne based fitness superstar. She has competed in Karate, MMA, Kickboxing, Olympic Weightlifting, Crossfit and 2017 Australian Ninja Warrior.

There is nothing Lou does not dominate and she has been on my radar since I myself stepped into the fitness industry.

I love this chat with Lou as, we share our thoughts on what might really drive us towards the desire to succeed and achieve. Our ideas around the metaphor that is sport, a theory which can be applied to any facet of life or business, really.

We also touch on religion, family, relationships, identity and loss.

Raw and honest, Lou is an open book on a bunch of topics that I love unpacking and I thank her for opening up on such things.

  • EP73 Trauma, Abuse, Recovery & Healing | Sage Monkman
Todays guest hit 'soul sister' status as soon as we connected on this one.   Fellow 'Activator' and PH360 Epigenetics Educator, Sage Monkman reached out after listening to episode 68 recently where I opened up for the first time publicly about my own experience with abuse growing up.
Sage resonated with my story through her own experiences and journey with complex PTSD.  We share thoughts and ideas on our prospective lessons and learnings along the way.  Conversations like this can be raw, they can be vulnerable, they can be uncomfortable and confronting. But they can more so be healing, they can be liberating and they can take us (and others) leaps and bounds towards understanding, forgiveness and letting go of our own judgement.
I thank Sage for reaching out and taking (and giving me) the opportunity to unpack some important and close to my heart topics with someone who crossed my path at the perfect time to do so.

  • EP72 Life, Lessons & Laughter | Courtney Devine
If there's anything I can rely on with Courtney Devine, it's vulnerability, truth and plenty of things to laugh about.
We heard from Courtney in EP46, she was locked up in hotel quarantine after packing her life into a suitcase and fleeing Amsterdam amidst the worldwide pandemic that had run rampant in the place she called home for the last three years.   The dust hadn't yet settled and a plan not yet in place.... so here we are to check in on what's evolved with our lass over the last couple of months.
We banter about the life stuff and the people stuff we've learned and are still learning along the way..  the ups (that most people see) and the lows (that few people see) and everything in-between.
I love a chat with Devine and the insights and entertainment it delivers... Enjoy!

  • EP71 Elite Female Athletes And Stress | Tori Singleton

Tori Singleton has performed and dominated at world level in Acrobatics.   From 7 years old she was throwing herself across the stage with poise, co-ordination and strength that sure puts me to shame... and probably you too, if we're being honest here!

At 21 she has already achieved a level of career success and accolades that most of us only dream of.  She has traveled the world and performed in all corners of the globe.  But underneath those lights and leotards in the later years she began to dance a much less choreographed routine.  Battling with the amalgamation of mental and physical concerns, Tori found her health suffered and collapse.

Depression, anxiety, PCOS, IBS, weight gain and severe acne took her to what felt like the brink.  Today she shares a little of Tori's story with us.

I think Tori's experience shines a light on how vulnerable we can be when we push our bodies and minds beyond their limits, which can find us lost in a place we never thought we would visit.

  • EP70 Elite Athletes Race Against Leukemia | Josh Komen

At 23 Josh Komen was in the best shape of his life as one of New Zealand's fasts 800m track runners.  Two months later Leukemia had him running an entire different race.

Josh shares his experience with loss, confusion, fear, anger, frustration and deep depression.  Josh relied on life support, overcame Leukemia twice, battled Host vs Graft Disease, endured multiple heart attacks... at only 33.

But... he also tells a story of triumph, success, resolution, faith, courage, growth, achievements and love.  True love.

This is a real life fairytale and I absolutely adored having the opportunity to speak with Josh.

Definitely a conversation worth listening to.

  • EP69 Living With Spina Bifida | Kristian Gay

Todays guest has been an avid RWTP listener since one of our favourite MICA Flight Paramedics dropped an episode, Matt Shepherd.

Kristian Gay was born with Spina Bifida.  Over his 32 years he has lost count of the number of invasive and often life threatening operations he has undertaken... the count is well over 60.  Wheelchair bound and facing practical and physical challenges daily, Kristian doesn't sit on the side lines of life sulking, he doesn't shy away from chasing his dreams.

Roll With The Punches is about people who do just that...  they roll, slip and weave whatever is thrown at them and from my extensive research they ALWAYS come out on top.

I love chatting to people like Kristian and gaining what the hell keeps them going in the face of adversity.

  • EP68 Not What I Expected | Harps & Tiff
Sometimes the most well thought out plan, doesn't go to plan... much like this podcast.
Well, not that there was all too much of a plan per se.  But all the same, Harps took a side step midway through this episode and found himself sipping his English Breakfast tea as we meandered through a range of unexpected topics.
Craig Harper and I chat about change, growth, tipping points, experiences, difficulties, relationships, tough times & life in general.
I share some things I've shared with very few, but that's part of what taught me to roll with the punches, hey.
It's fair to say people like Craig are rare & I feel fucking blessed that he's part of my life... Despite the fact that he hijacks my podcast and wheels out impromptu personal mentoring sessions amidst my show :)
    Enjoy.

  • EP67 Buddhist Philosophies For Happiness | Gen Kelsang Dornying
Gen Kelsang Dornying is one of Melbourne's most adored Buddhist teachers. I myself came across him a few short years ago attending my first meditation at the Kadampa Meditation Centre in Melbourne. Today Gen Dornying shares his personal journey into Buddhism with us along with letting me dig around some Buddhist philosophies and ideas... I thrive in conversations like this that offer concepts so simple yet sometimes so complex, as we humans tend to be. Enjoy!

  • EP66 Succeeding With Cerebral Palsy | Paul Rankin

Today I bantered with Paul Rankin.  He thinks he's nothing special.  I think he's quite the opposite.

Born with Cerebral Palsy, Paul is an engineer, a pilot, a lifesaver, a musician and as of this year qualified at national level for diving... Not national level for parasport, but for fully able bodied athletes.

    What. A. #^$%ing. Legend.

    No 'poor me'

    No 'life's hard'

    No excuses.

Paul just gets on with life and lives a damn good one at that!

Cerebral Palsy is the most common form of childhood physical disability, affecting about 34,000 Australians.

Bet you didn't know that... Well, I didn't.

In fact, there is a lot I didn't know about it.  It's a condition that ranges from purely physical disabilities right through to intellectual.

It is not degenerative, yet it is permanent.

Paul has a type called Hemiplegia, where one side of his body is affected.  As you will learn throughout our chat Paul is extremely intelligent and just gets on with life.  I bloody love his attitude and found so many gold nuggets that people can take out of listening to him share his story.

Most of us can't even (and don't) imagine what it is like to live life with disabilities.  To realise how many things we take for granted that aren't available to or are made so much more challenging for people with physical or intellectual limitations.

I loved this chat. You will too.

    Enjoy!

  • EP65 Gary Mehigan | The 'Cook' And The Chef

Today I'm feeling pretty chuffed about indulging in a bit of banter with one of the worlds most viewed celebrity chefs, Gary Mehigan.

After a decade as Co-Host and Judge on Australia's  MasterChef, Gary sure might be a household name and face, but when he sat behind the mic with me for a bit of a banter I could have been mistaken for thinking we'd been mates for years!  What a genuine, down-to-earth and likeable dude, who I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with.

We talk all things life, working in hospitality, being a TV personality, performing under pressure, leadership skills, loving what you do, doing what you love.

To be honest, there were just so many things I wanted to discuss with Gary and 80% of them didn't get squeezed in.  So don't worry, he'll be back... you might say this episode is just an entree!  Yes, I think I'm very clever  :)

    Bon Apetite!
