Do you ever need a nervous wee, only to need another one right before you 'hit the stage'? (whatever the stage is for you). Bobby and I are talking about public speaking and presenting in this episode. Do we prepare or not prepare? Who do we listen to and take advice from? Does the advice matter as much as the delivery of the advice? Does the personal proficiency of the advice-giver matter too?
Not everyone learns the same, performs the same and coaches the same so I found this an interesting exploration... Now if you'll excuse me, before you press play I'm just going to have a quick wee.

How's your relationship with your body? If there was a dialogue between you and it (oh by the way there is, you just may not be conscious of it) what does it say?
I think it's time we tune into this, start to understand what's really going on and start listening to the intelligence and wisdom that our body communicates to us moment to moment. We wouldn't say mean things to a puppy if it felt pain, got chubby or came down with an illness, would we? So why is it ok that we treat our own bodies with such disdain?
At first it whispers, we ignore it. Then it shouts, we curse it. Then it breaks down, we shame it. No more. I'm calling it. It's time to regroup, reframe, own up and reignite a healthy relationship with the vehicle we were gifted to carry us through this life and engage us in physical experiences and activities.
I hope this episode hits you in the heart and sees you stand in front of a mirror and say 'thanks' (and maybe 'sorry') to that brilliant biological Ferrari of yours.

Our good pal Mark LeBusque is back for a yarn, and yarn we most certainly did.
How many thoughts a day do we really have? Can thoughts (like beliefs) really be unconscious? How does one celebrate World Guinea Pig Day (not to mention World Toilet Day, it's an actual thing).
Amidst the topical banter we dive a little deeper into things like provoking with purpose, outsourcing and what's the deal with many of us (myself very much included) hanging on to shit that doesn't serve us.
Just two simple folk getting philosophical yet practical behind the mics.
Enjoy!

There's having goals. There's a plan to achieve those goals. There's actually taking action and moving towards those goals. Then, there's life, priorities, expectations, circumstances, obligations, sacrifices, relationships, families, grown-up stuff and perhaps even a little people pleasing that all gets thrown in the mix.
Next minute our 'plan' is a mess, we are frustrated, demotivated and likely a little bit resentful towards both ourselves for not hitting out target and towards others for getting under our feet.
So, how the hell do we manage ourselves, our goals, our life and our priorities?
I dunno... Let's ask Harps!

Sometimes wrapping up a podcast with Bobby is like the old days of trying to hang up a landline phone with your bestie. But hey, I remember the days just a brief couple of years ago when I wondered if he'd even say yes to being a guest on my show, let alone a weekly guest and a daily very good friend!!
Aaaaaanyway, this week we are talking about expectations. How to manage them, how to interpret them and what role they play when it comes to our intentions, experiences and results.
I hope you enjoy it... I fully expect you might :)

Oh dear, some of you aren't going to want to hear what I'm about to say next, but it has to be said... Simply showing up ain't going to cut it, my friend.
The context of this episode is around the gym and our physical fitness, but the general philosophy can be applied to an aspect of life really. I'm wrapping it around the gym for two reasons - firstly because it is an applicable reminder for almost every one of us at some point of our lives and secondly, because it's an easy topic for anyone to wrap their minds around.
I've trained and coached a lot of humans over the past decade (both physically and in terms of mindset and the head-stuff) and so I see all facets of wants, goals, needs, aspirations and intentions and I observe and explore with curiosity (in others and in myself) how well our application of the theory lines up with our desired outcomes.
So this is a little rant about just that... and how we might avoid stagnation and the age-old art of bullshitting ourselves with a facade of 'showing up' yet not really doing what's required.
I hope you can take away a little something and apply it for yourself.

The Royal Children's Hospital certainly isn't a place anyone wants to land, though it's unfortunately an inevitable reality for some families. But when that time comes, they can be certain that due to people like Professor Catherine Crock the journeys and the outcomes are having the needle moved in the right direction. Sure, we're super lucky to have such advanced medicine at our fingertips, but along the way it's fair to say we've lost touch and appreciation for the very real healing power of the somewhat unseen stuff.
The healing power of sights, sounds, ambience and culture... of kindness.
Professor Catherine Crock is a medical pioneer, producer of music and theatrics, humanitarian, mother and advocate for change.
A Physician at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Catherine has successfully implemented a raft of positive changes to healthcare in organisational culture, services and patient/family support. She is a Professor in the Faculty of Health, Deakin University.
She is Chair and Founder of The Hush Foundation, a charity working to transform healthcare by improving partnerships, culture and the environment to support health and wellbeing. Hush, in collaboration with some of Australia’s finest musical talent, has commissioned nineteen albums of music specifically for application within healthcare.
Plonk yourself down amidst some nice scenery and let this powerful conversation flood your cells.

It's no secret that I LOVE working out. Boxing is my true love, my teacher and the mirror to my soul. Second to that, ZUU and it's full body, ground-based functional, primal animal moves. So when I stumbled across Darryl Edwards, founder of Primal Play and the million times viewed TED Talk 'When working out isn't working out' I knew he was a kindred spirit and I knew we would revel in a conversation about movement, play and it's life enhancing effects.
Darryl shares his passion and knowledge around human movement, embracing discomfort, moving in three directions and how we can all expand our movement diet... and guess what, it's not as hard as you might think.
I love this chat and I love the simple and digestible strategies Darryl brings to the table.
Enjoy... and get moving!

If Drew Ramsey, M.D. were to become a vegan, he'd be a clam-eating, goat-eating vegan. And if Drew Ramsey's priority was to waste his money, tax his kidneys and take pleasure in his orange pee, then yes, he'd absolutely take multivitamins.
Amidst the utterly hilarious and entertaining nature of this episode, Drew delivers some seriously in-depth and worthwhile information around how we can improve our mental fitness and cognitive performance and how we can vastly reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety when we simply understand and adhere to putting the right foods in our gob.
Drew Ramsey, M.D. is a psychiatrist, one psychiatry’s leading proponents of Nutritional Psychiatry and author of Eat To Beat Depression And Anxiety. He is an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and he founded the Brain Food Clinic in New York City.
