Seahawks Forever w/ Dan Viens

Going into this Week 13 game against the New York Jets, Seahawks fans wanted more than just a victory. Especially after a disappointing performance against the New York Giants last week, Seattle fans wanted a dominant victory. Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll followed through with a 40-3 win over the Jets. Dayna O'Gorman of Our Turf Football and the Hawkblogger podcast joined the show to take a look at the Seahawks first 40-point performance this season. It was not a flawless performance, however. Seahawks defenders had three interceptions go in and out of their hands. Wilson had another interception, which earned him a career high total. But, more importantly, Wilson earned his ninth straight season with a winning record as Seahawks quarterback.

It's back-to-back weeks versus New York teams. The Seattle Seahawks come into this game at 8-4 after their first home loss this season, and they're taking on a winless New York Jets team that was seconds away from their first win last week. Joining the show to preview the game is MacGregor Wells from Gang Green Nation, the Jets community on SB Nation. We discuss the potential impact of Jamal Adams going up against his former team, talk about how the offseason acquisition of George Fant has worked out for the Jets, and how this game plays right into what might be New York's biggest weakness this season. He says as long as the Seahawks don't try and match up against the one thing the Jets do really well, the Seahawks offense should bounce back from their performance against the Giants last week.

With so many things that could go wrong in different facets of the Seahawks game against the Giants, we sometimes have to innovate the 3 IN, 3 OUT experience. So, in the season and the holiday spirit of 2020, we are stuffing OUTs inside of other OUTs and even attempt to do the same with the IN. The good thing is with a game like this one, we do have to attempt some balance with the good and the bad. On the plus side, one of our future Hall of Fame Seahawks had a moment that could've been just what the team needed to make the comeback, and we had a couple noteworthy performances worth mentioning from a pair of young players. Tune in for some of the good and the rest of the bad on this week's episode.

The Seahawks offense posted their worst offensive performance of the season against the Giants. After quickly driving into the red zone on the first drive of the game, Russell Wilson never got back. The only touchdown of the game came on a 28-yard throw (passing over the red zone) after Seattle fell behind 17-5 in the fourth quarter. Stuart Court of the Pedestrian Podcast joins the show to talk about the loss and how it changes the perspective of these final few games of the season. While the defense kept the Giants passing offense in check, New York ran the ball effectively in the third quarter to take the lead. We close the episode by discussing how the loss essentially kills any hope for the Seahawks earning a first-round bye in the playoffs.

Seahawks fans have been waiting a while for the news of Josh Gordon's return and that announcement finally arrived this week. Gordon will be allowed to return to the lineup against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16. But what impact will it have for the Seahawks? Anthony Nachreiner of the Nach on Sports calls into the show to talk about the news and go through our Week 13 picks. If the season were to end today, it would be the Tampa Bay Bucs coming up to Seattle for the first round of the playoffs. Even though the Bucs are 1-3 we discuss the concerns about Arians ability to win in Seattle over the years.

Although the Giants are coming into this game with a 4-7 record, they've finished each of their last seven games within a field goal and are on a three-game winning streak. Nick Falato of Big Blue View joins the show and says that if Daniel Jones were starting for the Giants, he thinks New York would be extremely competitive. However, Jones went down with a hamstring injury in last week's game against the Bengals and now backup quarterback Colt McCoy is expected to get the start. On the defensive side of the ball, they present both challenges and opportunities for Russell Wilson. He says with Kyler Fackrell heading to injured reserve, it could be a weakness that Seattle will look to exploit. If Cedric Ogbuehi is back in the lineup at right tackle, expect the Giants to line Leonard Williams, their most dangerous pass rusher, across from him.

In the preview show this week with Michael Kist of Bleeding Green Nation, Kist said that "DK Metcalf is going to destroy this team." He was right. Metcalf led the team with 177 yards and, with Mookie Alexander and John Morgan on the recap show, we discuss how it could have been an even bigger performance. Chris Carson returned to the lineup and gave the Seahawks a physical touchdown run and Jason Myers helped keep the game out of reach of a late surge by the Eagles.

Considering Philadelphia had struggled on offense this season, the Seahawks did what they needed to do defensively to make sure those struggles continued. Through three quarters, the defense held the Eagles under 100 passing yards and only 28 yards on the ground. Ultimately, the game was much closer due to a couple misses on fourth down plays by the Seahawks along with a particularly egregious missed call.
