  • Free agency preview: Part 2 - Seahawks veterans on offense, defense and special teams
In the first part of the discussion with John Gilbert, Field Gulls deputy editor, we looked at the Seahawks salary cap and talked about the three biggest names coming off their rookie contracts. We continue the discussion on this episode by talking about the veterans the Seahawks may look to retain or move on from. Which position group is the biggest need for the Seahawks? After an outstanding year from K.J. Wright, should the Seahawks look to re-sign him or are there other areas on defense Seattle should look toward as a bigger need? There's also one name on special teams who was named to the Pro Bowl this year who could depart based on his relationship with the former offensive coordinator.

  • Seahawks free agency preview: Part 1 - Managing the 2021 salary cap
The Seahawks are just one week into their offseason and we've heard the names of a lot of former head coaches who are being interviewed (formally or informally) as potential offensive coordinators. John Gilbert, deputy editor at Field Gulls, joins the show to talk about what might be motivating Seattle to look at these former head coaches. Looking at the financial situation for the Seahawks, they’re in relatively good shape compared to a team like the New Orleans Saints. But they're still going to have to do some work within the roster to be able to free up cap space if it does drop to the level that experts are suggesting. John talks about the methods Seattle can employ with a number of veteran players to help ensure the team stays in a position to be competitive in free agency this offseason.

  • Pete, Schotty, or Russ: Who deserves the most blame for early playoff exit?
Anthony Nachreiner invites Brandan onto his show to discuss the loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs and who is to blame for the early exit from the playoffs this year. With Brian Schottenheimer out as the offensive coordinator, what kind of coach will the Seahawks look for in a replacement? We take an early look at free agency and, with a limited amount of cap space right now, where could the Seahawks look in free agency and through the draft? We discuss those topics and look ahead to this weekend's playoff games and offer our picks for each game.

  • 3 IN 3 OUT: Play calling gets pulled from a grab bag of micro-moments
The 2020 season for the Seattle Seahawks comes to an end with a loss to the Los Angeles Rams, and in that loss we have a grab bag of OUTs to choose from. We start with handing one out for a play call that symbolized the lack of marbles needed to get this win. Similarly, the difference in how each team used their workhorse running backs was in stark contrast. Bobby Wagner was one of the bright spots in the game, particularly in the first half when he registered nearly a handful of IN-worthy plays. Finally, despite being on the radar of fans for a missed block, Freddie Swain had a catch late in the game that deserved some recognition.

  • RECAP: Seahawks vs Rams - An offensive debacle
If Seattle Seahawks fans were expecting the offense to do something different than what we've seen from them in the previous eight weeks, it likely added to the disappointment of the 30-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Even with Jared Goff throwing downfield with a thumb about twice its normal size, he was able to hit on enough big plays to keep the offense moving in addition to the big day from Cam Akers. The Seahawks weren't able to overcome two turnovers, a Russell Wilson interception for a touchdown in the first help helped the Rams to a 17-point second quarter and a fumble by D.J. Reed on a punt return in the fourth doomed the team to just its second exit in the Wild Card round in the Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson era.

  • Rams preview: Goff or Wolford - which QB should get the start Saturday
For the first time in the Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson era, the Seattle Seahawks play the Rams in the playoffs. After facing a run of tough defenses to close out the season, it's another matchup against the NFL's top defense. The biggest matchup question for Saturday is which quarterback gets the start for Los Angeles. Jared Goff is taking snaps in practice, but with his recent thumb surgery he won't be fully healthy. John Wolford has Rams fans excited, because he offers a different dynamic for the offense. However, neither have helped with the struggles in the red zone lately. Rich Hammond, co-host of 11 Personnel podcast for the Athletic, joins the show to preview the game and some of the matchups to watch on Saturday.

  • 3 IN, 3 OUT: Nick Bellore brings prop comedy to the gridiron
The Seattle Seahawks close out the season with a win, but there were plenty of OUTs to pass around with the come from behind victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Both coordinators find themselves on the negative side of the ledger for this game as Schneider needs to scheme better and Norton needs to flex more. Ryan Neal gets an IN after coming in and immediately having an impact play in relief for Jamal Adams. On the very next defensive series, Carlos 'DJ Spinderella' Dunlap spoils Bourne's celebration spoiler because he made it all about the ball even after the whistle. But we also have to give some credit to special teams as Nick Bellore ran down the field, unpacked his tool chest, and pulled out Emmanuel Moseley to use him as a prop in taking down the 49ers punt returner.

  • RECAP: Seahawks vs 49ers - Targeting franchise records and player incentives
The Seattle Seahawks capped their 2020 regular season with another victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks scored 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter after falling behind 16-6 to finish with a 26-23 win. Early on in this game, Seattle took down a couple franchise records as DK Metcalf moved ahead of Steve Largent for the most receiving yards in a single season and Tyler Lockett caught a touchdown pass for his 100th reception of the season. No player has ever hit triple digit receptions in franchise history. Russell Wilson finished with a career high in touchdown passes and passing yards and even moved ahead of Dan Marino for the most touchdown passes after nine seasons. Despite the records, how are we all feeling about this Seahawks offense heading into the playoffs? Dan Viens of the Dan Cave Podcast and the new Emerald City Sportscast joins the show to recap this Week 17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

  • 49ers preview: One year later - a very different Week 17 matchup
Last year in Week 17, these two teams were facing off to see who would earn the NFC West title. One year later, the Seahawks have locked up the top spot in the division while the 49ers have fallen to the cellar. However, it's been due in large part to the 49ers suffering through a historic number of injuries for their franchise. C.J. Beathard was the third-string quarterback at the start of the season. Their running back, Jeff Wilson, was the fourth starting running back. Two matchups to watch for is how the 49ers respond in the secondary after a big game from D.K. Metcalf the last time the two teams faced and how the Seahawks use Jamal Adams against George Kittle. Akash Anavarathan, co-host of the Shanaplan podcast, joins the show to talk about whether or not Richard Sherman has played his final snaps with the 49ers and perhaps in the NFL.

  • Week 17 Picks: A six-win team can still win the NFC East
Anthony Nachreiner invites Brandan onto the Nach on Sports to look back at the Seahawks victory over the Rams on Sunday for the NFC West title. Coming up against the 49ers, Seattle still has a shot at the top seed if New Orleans and Green Bay both lose. But even if one team loses, it could be the difference between hosting a playoff game the following week.  After the break Anthony and Brandan look at the Week 17 slate of matchups and make their picks for the final week of the regular season in the NFL. If the NFC East games go particular way, a team has a chance to finish with six wins in the division and host a playoff game next week.
