The vibes are all positive coming out of Mike Macdonald's first training camp as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, with the possible exception of one injury update....

**New leader identified (and paid!) on defense?

**A familiar face returns to the Seahawks secondary after 2 years away

**Injury lists down to just 4, but what's the latest on Abe Lucas?

**Is a Connor Williams signing inevitable?

And more!!!!!

It was just last year that the Seattle Seahawks drafted center Olu Oluwatimi in the 5th round after a decorated senior season at Michigan. After starting two games his rookie campaign in place of Evan Brown, he's been the first-team center all throughout OTA's and the presumed starter heading into the season.

But the Seahawks interest in Connor Williams and the sneaky signing of another interesting UDFA rookie may indicate the team's desire to replace Olu with a different athletic profile. I'll discuss.

Also, the Hawks got some outstanding news on the injury front and are hoping for more as Mike Macdonald gets set to address the media after today's opening training camp session.

Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic has been covering the Seattle Seahawks for nearly 8 years now and has seen good..... and not-so-good teams. Today he shares his thoughts on where he sees this current Hawks team going, with a potential floor that may give fans pause before booking flights to the next Super Bowl.

Mike also provides updates on a couple key injuries, and we chop it up about the current wave of player-driven inside access content, and where to draw the line when it comes to letting people into their lives.

Enjoy!

Shawn Syed of Sumer Sports took the deep dive of all analytical deep dives in trying to get a feel for how the NFL's new kickoff rule will look as they unveil it for the first time this season.

To do that, he went back to the genesis of the rule, the XFL, and charted every single kickoff play from their 2023 season.

What trends did he find? How did teams scheme up the return game, and how did they choose to cover it?

How does the rule the NFL is instituting differ from what the XFL did?

How might it impact roster construction, and the game itself? Listen in to find out!

With Seattle Seahawks rookies finally hitting the practice field today for the start of Mike Macdonald's first training camp as head coach, I asked Ty Dane Gonzalez to momentarily take off his Mariners hat and talk some Hawks ball! Ty used to write for All Seahawks (SI) and produces the Seattle Overload podcast for Matty Brown and Griffin Sturgeon, and we've talked plenty of Seahawks over the years. It was great to have him back on and I'm sure you'll enjoy our wide-ranging conversation covering everything from rookies to watch (including UDFA's), the new coaching staff's approach fresh approach, "Hard Knocks" type access and whether we'll ever see that in Seattle, how the NFC West is shaping up and much more.

Stick around for some BONUS content at the end where I ask Ty to assess the Mariners chances of potentially going big-fish hunting at the trade deadline as they attempt to hold onto their lead in the AL West.

Forget the questions, the concerns, the "what if's" and some of the negative national rhetoric when it comes to the 2024 Seattle Seahawks.

Today I'm focusing on the POSITIVE, because there are plenty of reasons for it. FIVE to be exact.

Here, presented for your consideration, are my 5 reasons to get EXCITED about this year's Seahawks team.
