Seahawks Forever w/ Dan Viens

The Seattle Seahawks voluntary offseason program kicked off last week with a heavy emphasis on "voluntary" as most Seahawks veterans choose not to participate. Pete Carroll said it doesn't bother him that other division rivals have their veterans attending OTAs. Ahkello Witherspoon, who the Seahawks picked up in free agency from the 49ers, was in attendance and spoke to the media. He said he considers himself a top corner when healthy and has been working through a couple different injuries. Finally, we hear from Jon Rhattigan who was an undrafted free agent linebacker at Army.

On Monday, it became clear to the sports world that Julio Jones wants out of Atlanta. It’s no longer speculation—it came straight from his mouth when he admitted it on live television. After drafting a wide receiver in the second round and adding multiple undrafted free agents at the position, the message from John Schneider and Pete Carroll appears to be that they want competition behind Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. What would it take for the Falcons to part with him and would it even make sense for Seattle to make the deal? We take a look back at some of the success other teams have had trading for future Hall of Fame players and the compensation teams had to give up. We're also joined by Phil, who takes us through an exercise about how the Seahawks roster is shaping up through this point of the offseason.

We start with an uncontroversial stance that Russell Wilson is the top quarterback in the division, but which QB sits in the second spot in the division? Nathan Cooper of Sports Info Solutions joins today's show for another point of view on the Seahawks draft class. He offers his scouting reports on each of the players and why Stone Forsythe may have lasted until later in the draft than expected. The Seattle Seahawks had their first day of Rookie Minicamp on Friday. Pete Carroll, Darrell Taylor and Stone Forsythe spoke to reporters about getting out on the field for the first time this year. Coach Carroll also talked about his excitement around 2021 second-round pick D'Wayne Eskridge and the speed that he brings to the Seahawks offense.

The Seattle Seahawks 2021 schedule was released on Wednesday and not only does our team land five prime time games, they come in bunches. The first three games of the season aren't much in terms of facing off against any bitter rivals, but once October hits then the schedule starts to get interesting. On Halloween, the Seahawks get to match up with the first overall pick and several former Seahawks players and coaches right before a mid-season bye. That gives Seattle coaches two weeks to prepare for a team that the Seahawks haven't been able to defeat on the road since 1999. Closing out the season, Seattle fans get to stay home for the holidays along with the Seahawks before taking on the Arizona Cardinals to close out the season.
