  • #67: I WANT TYPOS

I want typos, and you should too. Typos - literal or metaphorical ones - mean that you are taking action on your dreams and you are going out and making life happen.   //  “It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.” -
Leonardo Da Vinci

    EPISODE #67
    I WANT TYPOS

As a writer, you might think I’m crazy by saying that I want typos. But I do. You should too, let me explain why. Typos, or any other imperfection on our creative work, are a sign that we are putting ourselves out there. If you wait for everything to be perfect, you will never take any action on putting yourself out there.

I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT ACTION TODAY BECAUSE I MENTIONED IT LAST WEEK IN EPISODE #66 AS THE SINGLE MOST DEFINING FACTOR THAT DISTINGUISHES ME / IT IS THE KEY TO MY SUCCESS, MY CONFIDENCE, MY HAPPINESS

    TYPOS  REPRESENT ACTION

Napoleon Hill wrote “action is the real measure of intelligence”

“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.”
Leonardo Da Vinci

ACTION IS HOW WE LIVE OUT WHO WE ARE.

You can’t be who you are until you act who you are.
Stop waiting to become you want to be -> it takes action.
The key to taking action is being willing to make mistakes along the way….make TYPOS.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN YOU NEED TO PUT IT OUT THERE? / HOW CAN YOU BREAK FREE FROM PERFECTIONISM?
    Steven Pressfield wrote,

“The more fear we feel about a specific enterprise, the more certain we can be that the enterprise is important to us and to the growth of our soul.”
SO, HOW DO YOU TAKE MORE ACTION?
Most people struggle immensely with taking full action. Just the other day I was having a conversation with a good friend of mine who I am working with on a project. He openly told me that he’s fabulous at getting the first 95% of anything done and then terribly catastrophic at getting the last 5% completed. So what it is about the 5%? Is that 5% really that much harder? Well, no, it’s not. That 5% represents the fear that comes with doing anything that’s worthwhile.

Decide to start taking more action
    Create a plan
Keep your daily plan short (three things)
Know that small steps count – give yourself credit for them
    START
    Be accountable to yourself
    Be accountable to others
Remember you don’t have to have all the answers
Know that it’s not how you feel; it’s what you do
    Remember action builds confidence
An action is a habit; it’s hard at first and then becomes easier over time.

What if you could say that you’re someone who gets ’s stuff done? "Hi, my name is Trish Blackwell and I get stuff done." Now you try: "Hi, my name is _________, and I get stuff done!"

HERE’S A BABY ACTION STEP FOR YOU TO TAKE RIGHT NOW.

Don’t put it off until an hour from now. Do it now.

  • #66: TURN YOUR WORLD UPSIDE DOWN

    EPISODE #66
    TURN YOUR WORLD UPSIDE DOWN

Turn your world upside-down with transformed self-esteem.  Fight for your highest possibilities and honor your story.
“Your life is important. Honor it. Fight for your highest possibilities.”  -Nathaniel Branden

Let him that would move the world first move himself. -Socrates

    Self-esteem is:
“Confidence in our ability to think, confidence in our ability to cope with the basic challenges of life; and confidence in our right to be successful and happy, the feeling of being worthy, deserving, entitled to assert our needs and wants, achieve our values, and enjoy the fruits of our effort.” –Nathaniel Branden

“A feeling of having respect for yourself and your abilities; a confidence and satisfaction in oneself.” – Merriam-Webster

“Confidence in one’s own worth or abilities; self-respect”

“Your life is important. Honor it. Fight for your highest possibilities.”  -Nathaniel Branden

Self-esteem is the health of the mind.
The judgment you make of yourself is perhaps the most important judgment you can make
Believe implicitly that yesterday’s pattern will be tomorrow’s result
Our self-esteem influences how we act
“The healthier our self-esteem, the more inclined we are to treat others with respect, benevolence, goodwill, and fairness – since we do not tend to perceive them as a threat, self-respect is the foundation of respect for others.”
    Self-efficacy and self-respect
    Self-respect is basic and inescapable
Self-esteem prevents us from being manipulated by fear
    Low self-esteem inhibits thought
Self-esteem is a mind that is active rather than passive
    Without self-acceptance, self-esteem is impossible

    Self-esteem is:

“Confidence in our ability to think, confidence in our ability to cope with the basic challenges of life; and confidence in our right to be successful and happy, the feeling of being worthy, deserving, entitled to assert our needs and wants, achieve our values, and enjoy the fruits of our effort.” –Nathaniel Branden

“A feeling of having respect for yourself and your abilities; a confidence and satisfaction in oneself.” – Merriam-Webster

“Confidence in one’s own worth or abilities; self-respect”
    The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem:

(1).  The practice of living consciously

    (2). The practice of self-acceptance

    (3). The practice of self-responsibility

    (4). The practice of self-assertiveness

(5). The practice of living purposefully

(6). The practice of personal integrity

    Questions:

Which of the above six pillars do you most need to focus on?

What would happen if you brought just 5% more awareness to that activity or practice?

TRUST YOURSELF / MAKE THIS YOUR CREDO:

    Never in a hurry

    Never worried

    Never desperate

    Never stopping short

The Pillars of Self-Esteem, book by Nathaniel Branden, a highly recommended read!

  • #65: MOVE ON

Move on from the baggage of your past so that you can live fully in your present and in your future. Moving on happens intentionally when you make a decision to not be a certain way anymore. You have the power to redefine yourself and to align yourself with powerful potential, so do it!

    MOVE ON
    EPISODE #65
Let him that would move the world first move himself. -Socrates

Fake it until you become it.  Make a decision to stop living in the past and instead to really start maximizing your present, and thereby your future. Put the content of today's "move on" subject into action by working through the following questions:

(1). What exactly is it that you want to take action on?

(2). Why have you been waiting to do it?

(3). Are you ready to stop being an excuse maker?

(4). How exactly do you want to define yourself from here on out?  (My answers to this are: confident, authentic, loving, generous, bold, honorable and trust-worthy).

(5). What action do you need to take today to really move on towards your best you / your dreams?

  • #64: RESOURCES FOR POSITIVITY

    Here are my best resources for maintaining a positivity mindset;
remember, you can change your life just by the way you talk about it.

    Resources to Increase
    Your Positive Mindset
    EPISODE #64

The value of community – many hands makes for light work. Brandon and I moved from Fredericksburg back to my house in Ladysmith in the span of just 7 hours, thanks to the many helping hands of our friends and neighbors.  Yes, we actually had neighbors we barely knew offered to come to help us move….

…what would happen if you always stopped and offered 20 minutes of your time whenever you saw a moving truck?

…community is everything. Are you plugged into a community?

…the community that helped us was our LifeGroup, from our local church; a group that we have intentionally sought out….so stop waiting for a community and start creating your own.

    Go back to the basics.

Don’t check Facebook before you get out of bed.
Don’t check Facebook first thing before falling asleep.
    Read more books.
    Textless.
Get rid of negative feeds / stop telling yourself they don’t affect you
