Ree Lodge (@reallyree) and her website www.reallyree.com are the 'breaking news' of beauty. If it's launching, it's on her site, which is about to undergo a massive redesign, and being first, thorough and correct is of paramount importance to Ree. In this episode Ree talks to me about the early days of Really Ree, of joining twitter on a whim, writing blog posts, but also what life had looked like before she dominated the beauty news arena. She talks to me about her career in recruitment, where you could argue her competitive nature was born, and why she went from a high-paid job into a passion role and how she's gone on to monetise the latter.
It's a really robust conversation where we cover topics including self-preservation, the idea of luck, guilt, motivation and she shares a brilliant piece of advice for anyone going after what they want in life:
“You haven’t failed unless you give up.” — Ree Also in this episode...It was a busy week in beauty and among other things I went to the launch party for Real Techniques new collection Powder Bleu launching July 2017 - a new variety of brushes designed to be used with powder. The six-piece collection includes a Soft Complexion Brush, £22, a Soft Powder Brush, £22, Soft Finishing Brush, £22, Soft Shader Brush, £15, Soft Kabuki Brush, £25 and Plush Powder Puff, £12. The event was held in the Blue Room at The Curtain Hotel in Shoreditch and hosted by Sam Chapman and Nic Haste Chapman and included readings from the Psychic Sisters and entertainment from Britain's Got Talent Finalists DNA. The food from Red Rooster was next-level and reminded me of Hart of Dixie, which is never a bad thing.
There are certain events that are just joyful and hanging out with Sam and Nic is always such a pleasure (listen to their podcast here) but also some of my favourite beauty colleagues; Sali Hughes, Nadine Baggott, Really Ree, Madeleine Spencer, Claire Coleman, Jo Glanville-Blackburn and many more...

I also sang some Stevie Nicks with Caroline Hirons because I was wearing some hippy-vibe tassels. What?!

Michelle Visage (@michellevisage) joins me on a brand new episode of the show to talk about her collaboration with Illamasqua and the 'Visage Lash', the beauty products she adores and why she's very specific about what she puts on her skin. If you listen to Michelle's podcast What's the Tee with RuPaul and Michelle Visage - and why wouldn't you? - you'll know that Michelle has autoimmune disease and she talks in detail about the lifestyle changes she's had to make for the sake of her health.
In this hour-long conversation with also talk about role as a judge on RuPaul's Drag Race, being an advocate for the LGBTQ community and her own issues with self-doubt. We discuss the burden of being dreamers and why meditation, and specifically visualisation, is crucial if you want your wildest dreams and fantasies to come true - as long as you do it with emotion...
Michelle knows a lot about being on-the-go. When she's not sitting on the judging panel on the Emmy-winning show RuPaul's Drag Race, she's on the road for nine months of the year and Michelle explains the steps she takes to shut off and put boundaries in place so she doesn't burn out.
Tune into Michelle's YouTube channel here to see, among other things, snippets from the Drag Race tour, her Vogueing back in the late 80s and videos from the RuPaul Show that used to air on VH1.

Anxiety affects nearly a quarter of the population and as it's a topic that has come up more than once during podcasts with my guests I felt it was time to dig a little deeper into the topic. While it's completely normal to experience anxiety you may not be aware that you have it. Instead you may feel as though you're just highly stressed, a bit hormonal or just going through a rough patch. I've spoken on this podcast before about anxiety with guests including Luke Hersheson and Pixiwoo's Sam and Nic, as well as my own struggles, and in realising this was a much bigger issue was keen to speak to an expert on the subject. Chloe Brotheridge has written the book The Anxiety Solution, which is a really important read whether you suffer with anxiety yourself, or know someone who does. As well as detailing her own experiences with anxiety and panic attacks the book also offers realistic solutions to bringing down your anxiety levels as well as the comfort of reassuring you that you're not alone.
In this podcast we talk about Chloe's book, her own experiences with anxiety, how to spot the warning signs that you're not just stressed, how to help someone you know through anxiety and the benefits of meditation and yoga.
Chloe's website www.calmer-you.com provides another resource with links to helpful sites as well as a downloadable meditation and details of her upcoming events, as well as how to get in touch with her.

In the introduction this week I talk about the events that I've been to and the products I've been using including meeting Victoria Beckham to talk about her forthcoming second makeup collection with Estee Lauder. In this chat with one of the media's most accomplished editors we talk about the realities of the future of print journalism, how to curate and execute an online title like The Pool, the learning curve that came with swapping paper for digital and why now, more than ever, The Pool's voice is an important one.

Carmen Carrera (@carmen_carrera/@carmen_carrera) joins me on this episode of the show and we cover a lot of ground. From her blossoming acting career, her Showgirl show, her tireless work as an activist within the LGBTQ community as well as how she navigated her own transition.
I first came to know of Carmen when she appeared in series three of RuPaul's Drag Race, but a lot has changed since then. Immediately after the show finished filming Carmen began to transition and her birth certificate now reads 'female', a change she admits made her feel 'powerful' and 'validated'.
In this episode of the show we talk about her early years in high school, how she navigated the school halls while knowing that she wasn't being her true self, how her friends and mother played a crucial role in her accepting and believing in herself. We talk about her acting career and starring alongside Meryl Streep, being friends with J.Lo and life after Drag Race.
Carmen also talks to me about her tireless work as an activist and the documentary Outpost and highlighting the fact that rates of violence against the LGBTQ community in Sao Paolo are among the highest in the world. She also tells me about supporting Gavin Grimm, the transgender teen who was prevented from using the boys' toilets in his school, and why a curriculum of LGBTQ history in schools is a positive step to creating safety and protection for the community.
She also tells me about motherhood, breaking down stereotypes and how yoga and meditation have played a crucial role in her journey.
