  • Feel-Good Habits | Rebecca Seal

Rebecca Seal is a podcaster and author who joins me to share her feel-good habits, the strategies she uses and recommends to make sure every day is a good day.

In this episode @bexseal and I discuss:

    • The no alcohol Monday to Friday rule that she and her husband have implemented to make working from home more productive.
    • Why working from home requires boundaries and having strict ‘working hours’ and ‘no work on weekends’.
    • Why lockdown and working from home made her analyse her relationship with food and helped her make the shift to eating as though she were feeding a friend.
    • The value in transitional rituals to move from one mode of thinking/being to another.
    • Why people are so good for the soul and connection, whether in-person or online, is something to nurture and make time for.

Bex’s book Solo: How to Work Alone (and not lose your mind) is available now and Bex’s podcast The Solo Collective, is available on all good podcast platforms.

  • Beauty Special | Natters that Matter with Rosie Green

This episode is brought to you in collaboration with Philips.

I started trying all the ways that someone can remove their hair from a very early age and, trust me when you’ve got over 30 years of hair removal under your belt you realise how so many of them are messy, uncomfortable, ineffective and inconvenient - it’s a veritable comedy of hair removal errors! This is why I’ve asked author and columnist - and my mate - Rosie Green to join me in a no-holds-barred chat about the embarrassing stories we both have from our hair removal attempts. We also opened the floor to you, my most excellent listeners, and we share some of the mishaps you’ve had in pursuit of hair-free body parts. Spoiler alert - we were nearly in tears laughing over some of them.

  • Feel-Good Habits | The Scummy Mummies

Ellie Gibson and Helen Thorn are comedy duo The Scummy Mummies and they join me to share their feel-good habits, the strategies they use and recommend to make sure every day is a good day.

In this episode @elliegibsongames and @helenwearsasize18 share:

    • The joy in a good, long lunch with friends, which is something they appreciate so much more after the lockdowns of 2020.
    • Why cheese is so wonderful and why someone turning up to your front door on a motorbike with hot food is so fantastic.
    • The ritual of a post-show curry when they are touring the country.
    • The feel-good smugness of exercise even though that's mainly something you feel after the fact and not while you're doing it.
    • Why they both love sex just not with each other.
    • How Helen has rediscovered sex now she's single again and what a treat it's been to discover 'sex is really fab' having been previously a little naive about it.
    • How being organised and decluttering is a way to access a feel-good hit, especially if it involves a skip or a hippo bag.
    • Why being on stage and making people laugh makes them feel so good and why they don't take doing what they love for granted.
    • Why people pleasing is actually lying and so much more.
    • This episode also features a sentence I never thought I'd hear on the podcast, 'Ra! Ra! Ra! Bukake!' so beware of listening to this if there are little ears in the vicinity.

    1. Helen's book Get Divorced, Be Happy is available now and for tour details click here - Scummy Mummies on tour.

  • Gemma Styles | Good Influence

Trigger warning: this episode contains references to suicide.

Gemma Styles is a podcaster and writer Gemma Styles who joins me to talk about the topics she feels we can shed more light on. In particular, we discuss mental health and why it's so important to talk about it a little bit deeper and a little further to break the taboo.

Gemma has the ability to make difficult, uncomfortable topics accessible and that's exactly what we do in this episode of the show.

You may have heard me say on this podcast before that I don’t mind looking silly and asking a dumb question but as Gemma says, ‘there’s no such thing as a stupid question’ and how on earth are you supposed to know something if you haven’t learned it.

In this episode, we discuss the subjects she’s felt compelled to discuss on her podcast and we also discuss our own experiences with anxiety and depression. And, listeners, we do not hold back. This is one of the rawest and exposing conversations I’ve had on this podcast and I really appreciate that Gemma was willing to ‘go there’ with me.

Also, if you’re someone who doesn’t struggle with your mental health, I encourage you to listen anyway as it may help you gain a better understanding of those around you who may need support. Or it may just give you a better sense of what they may be feeling.

During our discussion, Gemma and I talk about being diagnosed and what that really feels like. What it’s like to be terrified by your own thoughts. How paying attention to how you’re feeling and noting when things might be going in the wrong direction is a skill worth learning. The benefits of having an SOS system in place with your friends, even if it’s an emoji so they know when you might need them.

If you enjoyed this conversation with Gemma, you can hear me chat to her on Good Influence here - Good Influence feat Emma Guns.

The helpline Gemma mentioned in the show is SHOUT

  • Natters that Matter with Philips | Dr Sharon Wong

This episode is brought to you in collaboration with Phillips.

Dr Sharon Wong joins me in this episode to talk about the technology in the device and why it reduces hair growth. During our conversation, Sharon explains the hair growth cycle, how the Intense Pulse Light, IPL, works and what effect it has on the individual hair follicles, why the two weeks between treatments when you first start using the device is so important, who can use and benefit from the technology and much more.

  • Feel-Good Habits | Lorna Luxe

Lorna Luxe is a content creator, entrepreneur and designer who joins me on the podcast to share her feel-good habits, the strategies she uses and recommends to make sure every day is a good day.

In this episode, @lornaluxe and I discuss:

    • The joy of staying in bed and why the narrative of getting up early somehow equals success isn't true.
    • Why switching off devices, as advised by Marie Reynolds, has been a quick way to maximise sleep in the Luxe household.
    • The Tony Robbins technique that helps Lorna prime every day to be a good day and why it receives her glowing recommendations of 'I'll tell you what, it's belting!'
    • How food is something she uses to make herself feel-good after depriving herself a lot in her 20s she feels now, in her 30s, that she's found a balance.
    • The IGTV Callie Thorpe posted that has transformed the way she preps her food every week.
    • Why skincare and haircare are quick and easy ways to invest some time and care in yourself and why beauty as self-care can be a five-minute job and doesn't mean 'full-on masks, massages and all that jazz
    • Plus we also go off on a major hair loss tangent as we both started seeing trichologists at Philip Kingsley at about the same time in 2020 and have seen impressive results.
    • Plus, I also quiz her about airplane hygiene and what she does and doesn't recommend you do on planes as a former cabin crew.

During this conversation, we also mentioned: the I Am Not Your Guru documentary on Netflix Dusk bed linen and Mela Silk bed linen.

  • Natasha Lunn | Conversations on Love

Natasha Lunn joins me on the podcast to talk about love. That's right, love.

In her new book Conversations on Love, Tash (@natashachloelunn) explores the many types of love in our relationships, friendships, family and even in the places where you may not expect love to live.

Perhaps something we can all relate to is making mistakes in love, feeling the loss of love, being hurt by how much we love.

Tash and I discuss this, and more, in this episode.
