  1. Number 1: STOP HALF-ASSING IT

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about why we need to stop half-assing our lives, work, the art we make, and our relationships! Because of what it really says about our self-respect when we keep settling for “good enough.” I share a real-life story about a worker with a kinda’ crappy attitude, who left streaky results, and showed practically zero care. And how that kind of half-hearted effort slowly poisons your reputation, your relationships, and your ability to grow. (Forget about those referrals, kid) So, if you’re tired of phoning it in (whatever “it” may be for you) and you’re ready to raise your standards... Plus, you genuinely want to show up full-hearted, and put real love into what you do… Then hit play on this sucker and let’s dive in together! ❤️ KAREN KENNEY BIO: Karen Kenney is a writer, speaker, podcaster, certified spiritual mentor, and coach. 2. Number 2: THE COURAGE TO BE LOVED

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it really means to have the courage to be loved. By taking a look through the lens of the one-and-only Dolly Parton’s life, legacy, faith, humor, and big-hearted generosity. I share how Dolly managed to be wicked authentic, outspoken, and spiritually grounded! All while still being one of the most beloved humans on the planet (a recent poll out of UMass Lowell gave her an amazing net favorability rating of +65!). I also explore the difference between trying to be “palatable” for "likes" versus being fully yourself and letting people love (or not) the real you. If you’ve ever struggled with people-pleasing, fear of judgment, or holding back your true self in real life (or online), this episode is a loving invitation to flex your courage myuscles... And to show up more honestly, to take a stand for what you believe in, and to allow yourself to be truly seen, known, and loved! ❤️ KAREN KENNEY BIO: Karen Kenney is a writer, speaker, podcaster, certified spiritual mentor, and coach. 3. Number 3: LIFE IS NOT THE INTERNET

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about how the internet has trained so many people to believe that every thought they have deserves a comment, their opinion, or a post... And why that shit doesn’t really fly in real life. I tell a couple of stories about unsolicited opinions (given both online and in person) and the emotional impact they can have on the receivers. I also share how you can start using your voice more thoughtfully by revisiting the “three gates” of communication! These questions are simple, yet powerful: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? And when put to good use, these suckers can save us all a lot of unnecessary suffering. So, here's my invitation to you (and reminder to myself) to pause before you speak, type, send, or hit publish! Together, let's explore turning off the “comment section” in certain conversations, standing up against cruelty, and choosing to use our words as a force for good, both on and off the internet. ❤️ KAREN KENNEY BIO: Karen Kenney is a writer, speaker, podcaster, certified spiritual mentor, and coach. 4. Number 4: STEVEN PRESSFIELD: ON RESISTANCE, SELF-DISCIPLINE, AND SELF-REINFORCEMENT

My guest today is legendary, bestselling author Steven Pressfield, who's known for his work on creativity, self-discipline, and how to overcome the inner force of what he calls, "capital R" - Resistance. He’s written 25 books including the wildly popular - The War of Art, Turning Pro, Do The Work, and Put Your Ass Where Your Heart Wants to Be - which have influenced tons of successful writers, thinkers, artists and entrepreneurs - including Ryan Holiday and Rich Roll. Steven wrote for 27 years before his first novel The Legend of Bagger Vance got published and made into a Robert Redford film starring Matt Damon and Will Smith. He’s also written a memoir Gov Cheese and many historical novels like, A Man at Arms, Gates of Fire, and his latest, The Arcadian! I’ve been reading and recommending his work for years, so to have him on the show felt like such a full-circle, meant-to-be moment! Here’s some of what Steven and I dive into in this episode: Resistance (with a capital R): That invisible, diabolical force that shows up every time you try to write the book, record the podcast, go to the gym, leave the job, or step toward your calling. “Resistance will kill you”: Steven shares why not following your creative or spiritual calling doesn’t just make you uncomfortable… it can slowly kill your spirit, your self‑trust, and your life-force. Self‑Discipline & Ritual: We talk about why discipline gets such a bad rap, how it actually becomes an act of self‑love, and what it looks like in real life to “put your ass where your heart wants to be.” Art as a Spiritual Practice: Steve and I dig into the idea that we’re spiritual beings in a messy, beautiful, often painful world – and how making art (in any form) is one of the most powerful ways we can respond to and answer that. His new book, The Arcadian: He shares the 40‑year journey behind this story, karma, warriors, and what it costs a soul to live a life of violence… and try to find redemption. I also share a bit about my own writing journey with my memoir, and how bumping up against Resistance has pushed me deeper into my spiritual practice and creative life. This episode is for you if: 📌 You’re a writer, artist, entrepreneur, or big-hearted human with a dream 📌 You keep saying, “I’ll start tomorrow” (and tomorrow never quite seems to come) 📌 You feel called to something more, but resistance, fear, and self‑doubt keep tripping you up If that’s you, I think this conversation will feel like both a loving hug and a gentle kick in the pants. ❤️ CONNECT WITH STEVEN: Website Books Sarsaparilla Media Writing Wednesdays Resistance Reset (A Course) YouTube Instagram Facebook X TikTok KAREN KENNEY BIO: Karen Kenney is a writer, speaker, podcaster, certified spiritual mentor, and coach. 5. Number 5: SPIRITUAL ROAD MAPS

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what I call spiritual roadmaps - thoseinner "TripTiks" that help us to move from where we are -to- where we really want to be. I share a story about driving cross-country with one of those old-school, highlighted, AAA paper maps and how that kind of customized route is wicked similar to spiritual mentoring, coaching, and doing your own inner work. We dive into why reading more books, listening to another podcast, and buying another course (aka: just gathering more information) isn’t enough to create change - especially if you're not willing to apply what you’ve learned! I also share why no mentor, coach, therapist, or partner can “drive the feckin’ car” for you. I mention A Course in Miracles, nervous system resilience, and personal responsibility - plus, why you’ve got to want the change more than anyone else in the room! If you’re tired of feeling stuck over there on “Suffer Island”... And you find yourself always saying you want change, but then avoid doing what you need to do to change, then this episode is a loving nudge just for you! ❤️ KAREN KENNEY BIO: Karen Kenney is a writer, speaker, podcaster, certified spiritual mentor, and coach.
