Many of us think of adipose tissue as just a place to store excess fat to be used for energy. These messengers help regulate glucose and lipid metabolism, control hunger, and affect insulin levels. The commensal bacteria in the gut microbiome are responsible for so many important functions. Their influence is far-reaching as it relates to overall health.
