During today's discussion, we will explore the various levels at which endocrine therapy can be effective in treating insulin resistance. Our community guest speaker is Dave Knapp, also known as Man on the Mounjaro, a popular YouTube personality. Dave has battled obesity since his late teens and was eventually diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He will share his personal journey of managing obesity and his family's history of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Dave uses Mounjaro to manage his obesity and lower his A1C levels. We are also honored to have Dr. Melissa Young, an endocrinology specialist and TikTok sensation, join us. She will explain the role of hormones in obesity and type 2 diabetes, and discuss the spectrum of insulin resistance. Today, we have our community guest Rebecca who discusses her lifelong battle with weight and PCOS despite many efforts to diet and exercise. Rebecca has an athletic build and was a ballerina, but she still fell within the obese BMI category beginning in high school. Why? Her doctors always just told her to eat less and move more, yet it was never sustainable. Rebecca also discussed how society’s standards affected her mental health because she always felt “too fat or too thin”. Rebecca also tells us about her Mounjaro journey and how it has changed, and possibly saved, her life. Dr. Rentea from episode 3, rejoins us today! She is a board-certified obesity specialist and will explain why the “eat less move more” mentality is a myth, as well as validate why Rebecca’s experience is so common in those that struggle with obesity.

Today, we discuss the GLP-1 GIP medication, Mounjaro, and debate if we think it's the future of obesity treatment. We are joined by our GLP-1 TikTok community guest, Beth, who shares her story and struggles with obesity, PCOS, infertility, and insulin resistance. Beth learned about Mounjaro while exploring her options for gastric sleeve surgery and it's changed her life in so many ways. Our medical specialist this week is Alex Guevara, an Advanced Practice Provider in Primary Care in the UK, specializing in medical weight loss using GLP-1 therapies. He has been at the forefront of GLP-1 information and education for the last few years on social media and manages the World’s largest Facebook education groups for those using GLP-1 therapies. Today, we are joined by Dr. Myra Ahmad of Mochi Health and Rachael from our GLP1 Mounjaro TikTok Community. We focus on how many things attribute to obesity. Rachael discusses her battle with childhood obesity, genetic obesity, PCOS, ADHD, and a binge eating disorder that started at the age of 8. She shares her testimony on how Mounjaro has completely changed her life for the better and improved her mental and physical health. Dr. Myra Ahmad is an obesity specialist and the Co-Founder & CEO of Mochi Health, a telehealth obesity practice. She graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine, UCSF Medical Center. In her career, Dr. Ahmad witnessed providers use shame when discussing a patient's hypertension, dismiss other medical concerns due to bias, and refuse to use safe and affordable medications in favor of "diet and exercise only" strategies. She felt that these providers didn't see the value in listening to patients. She is here today to discuss everything from study data on GLP1 trials to her position on compound pharmacies that produce Semaglutide and Tirzepatide for patients who cannot get insurance coverage or cannot afford the often $1000 + monthly cash pay price.
