When it comes to your life and work, who is your worst critic?

•  Is it your Instagram followers? 
• How about your customers? 
• What about your peers? 

You're probably shaking your head no because you know that it's you. YOU are your harshest critic. You shoot down your ideas, pick apart your work, and your self-talk game is so negative it wears you out most days.

How about everyone else, are you as critical?  Nope,  chances are you become a superfan! You have no problem sliding in your faves DMs to sing their praises. Every time they post a picture, you're double-tapping with the quickness. When they drop new merch, your credit card can't get out of your wallet fast enough because you're so happy to support. And ain't nothing wrong with that, gone head and spread the love. 

But when it comes to you and your work, where's that same energy, boo? You spend so much of your time fangirling everyone else you forget to be your own biggest fan. So in today's #QuickTip, we're talking about the importance of recognizing your worth and value and why cheering yourself on is non-negotiable.

What do all of these things have in common? They are all super HARD to pull off! And as humans, we don't do so well with hard. We like things nice and easy. We want to take a leap of faith and get some 100% guarantee from the Lord above that we will find instant success on the other side. Well, I got news for ya--life just doesn't work like that all the time. Life is hard. Relationships are hard. Entrepreneurship-- all of it is hard. But just because it's hard doesn't mean you have to give up. You wanna know why? Well, because you are capable and can do hard things! Picture this--

One day you wake up in the morning, get dressed, and walk past your mirror. You catch a glimpse of yourself, and you think, "damn, I'm kinda cute. Let me take a picture!". Feeling yourself, you take your phone out and start taking all the selfies. As you flip through the footage, your selfies are dope af! So you open up Instagram, load them up, and just as you're about to hit the post button, something happens. All of a sudden, you start to think:

• I shouldn't post this. What if I don't get "enough" likes
• Damn, I should take this down; I still haven't lost any of pandemic weight. I don't want anyone to see me like this.
• Why am I posting this? I don't want my followers to think that I think I'm the ish.

And so you don't hit publish and just let your selfie sit on your phone until the end of time. Not to get all deep, but sometimes not posting our selfies or sharing our content is a telltale sign of a lack of confidence. Do you hide when it's time to market your business? Dim your light out of fear of outshining others. Silence yourself when it's time to share your story? I wonder what would happen if you were to own your greatness? To post whatever you wanted whenever the hell you felt like it. Wouldn't it feel good to finally be able to show up and not be ashamed of who you are and what you have to offer? So in today's Quick Tip, I'm challenging all #GoalGetters to post the damn selfie even when it feels cringe because small steps like that will help you be the bold, confident, capable, and talented #GoalGetter you are! ❤️

Please don't feel bad because I wasn't time blocking all that hard either. It wasn't until I started reading Nir Eyal's "Indistractable: How to Control Your Attention and Choose Your Life"; that I got my act together.  

You see, I was making a major productivity mistake. I'd just wake up in the morning, make a mile-long to-do list and stare at my computer overwhelmingly. I'd get so frustrated because I had so much work to do but couldn't for the life of me figure out where to start. Well, time blocking stopped all that jazz.  

Once I started time blocking, I knew exactly where to put my focus. I was organized, efficient, and at peace. So, if you've been struggling to prioritize your work and get things done, then today's episode is for you!

The books you're reading. The new people you're gravitating towards. The "random" things that have been piquing your interests lately-- guess what? That stuff isn't showing up in your life just for the hell of it. It's hard to see it while you're in it, but all of those “coincidences” are weaving themselves into a larger thread of purpose in your life. 

For example, that book you're reading might remind you how much you love writing and inspire you to take a creative writing class. In that class, you might meet the next best literary editor that helps you craft your novel. You might be sitting at your favorite quiet cafe, and you overhear someone say that they work in publishing, and you work up the nerve to shoot your shot, and voila, the rest is history!

There is so much magic happening around us, but we don't even realize that it's happening because we're so busy life-ing. But I bet when you take a closer look, you see that everything, the good, the bad, and the ugly, was working out for your greater good + leading you to a path that was tailored made for you.
