There is this unspoken rule that you have to hit certain milestones by a certain age:
This timeline is cute, but we all know that life doesn't work out all nice and neatly like that. For some of us, life be straight up life-ing. And there is just no way everybody can keep up with this timeline.
Maybe you’re 35 and still don’t have kids yet. 23, and you’re still trying to figure out if college is right for you. What if you’re single and live in the city and a house hasn’t even crossed your mind yet?
Where does this arbitrary timeline leave the folks that aren’t hitting these supposed milestones on time? Welp, it leaves everyone feeling stressed tf because there's this immense pressure to have it all and have it NOW.
Know how I know? Well, because I've been a late bloomer my entire life. I didn't buy a house until I was 36. I JUST had my first baby at the ripe "old" age of 37. Heck, I didn't even learn how to drive and buy my first car until I was 27.
I used to feel like a complete failure because I was so "behind". That is until I had the realization that I am in charge of my own damn life. That I get to make up my own rules and live life on the timeline I create.
In today's episode, we're exploring how to release ourselves from the pressure to be "on time" and how to start living our lives on our own terms.

When was the last time you stopped and said thank you? Now before you answer, I’m not talking about the time you said “thank you” to the person that held the door for you at Starbucks. No mayum- I want to know when was the last time you said thank you to you? Have you ever stopped for a second and thanked your past for all the lessons you learned? What about the present? Do you ever just sit and feel appreciative for all the good that is going on in the now? And your future-- do you ever just say thank you for the things that haven’t happened yet but that you’re believing God for? In today’s episode, we’re talking about the power of thank you. And how embracing a gesture of gratitude can help you stay motivated and keep going towards those God-given dreams of yours.

You have a new idea and you’re ready to step up to the plate and make it happen. As you’re doing your thang a small voice creeps up in the back of your head and it says...
“Well, you already tried to open your own business, and remember how that failed?”
“The jig is up. You’re too old and it’s too late. You’re going to embarrass yourself if you try to make ish happen.”
“Sure you were successful that one time, there’s no way that can happen again”
Once those negative thoughts start it’s hard to get them to stop. So what do you do? Do you shut them down and do what needs to be done? Well in a perfect world you would but nine times out of ten you start to believe them.
You believe them because they sound almost like the truth. You do remember that time you failed. You do feel old af. You do feel like it’s already been done, said, or made so what the hell do you have to bring to the table?
And so the idea to start the new project, finish the book, try the recipe, re-open the business— fizzles and you give the hell up.
But what if I told you that God is not a one-hit wonder? That the ship hasn’t sailed on your blessings? That your past failures have nothing to do with your future success?
Well, you’re in luck because that’s exactly what I’m telling you in today’s episode. Take a listen if you’re ready to get unstuck, stop playing small and finally take the leap of faith and do the thing that you’ve been dreaming of doing.

I am a recovering chronic worrier.
Yep, I’m one of those people that constantly worries about every little thing. 🥴
Want to know my secret weapon that stops worry dead in its tracks? Gratitude.
You know the old saying-- “interrupt anxiety with gratitude”? Welp, it’s true. So true, that I decided to keep a gratitude journal to help me appreciate all the good that was in my life.
The thing is that after a while, I started to notice how stale my gratitudes were. My journal was littered with the usual suspects; “Lord I thank you for my home, my health, my car, etc.” while I’m truly grateful for all those things, it was starting to give Blah.
That is until Jessica L. Williams from Tech Biz Girl suggested I start writing down all the things that made me smile that day. Small adjustment but a total game changer.
In today's #Quick Tip, we're talking about the powering of taking some time to look back at what made you smile and how it helps step your gratitude game all the way up.

Never in a million years did I ever think I would take a seven-month break from the podcast. But chilleee, once I found out I was pregnant it was a wrap. 🥴 Ya girl was exhausted beyond belief and desperately needed a little time off just to get used to growing a whole human in my nether regions.
Being the overachiever, type-A, #GoalGetter that I am, I thought I could be pregnant and still operate at the same capacity I was moving and shaking at before I found out I was having a baby. And boy was I wrong. 🤦🏾♀️ So I decided to take a breather but I didn't mean for it to be damn near half the year.
So what’s been up since then? What’s next for the podcast? Why did I disappear off the face of the internet? Well, in today’s episode, we’re going to play catch up and I’m spilling all the tea on what popped off these past few months. We're talking about how:

When Starbucks messes up your order, do you go back to the store to let them know and ask for what you actually ordered? How about when your boss assigns you yet another project on top of all your other work because they know you're always reliable? Do you speak up for yourself and say "Hey, I'm a bit overwhelmed is there a way I can get some more support?" Or do you just smile, nod, and do the work? What do you do when you start to notice that you've been doing way more housework than your roommate? Do you say what you need to say and have tough conversations? Or is that a struggle for you? If you've been biting your tongue, holding back, or letting things slide to keep the peace, today's #QuickTip is an invitation to say what you need to say. It's one of the best ways to build your self-trust, deepen your relationships and honor your voice.

What do you do when you're worn the hell out? Do you go sit down somewhere so you can get some rest? Or are you like the rest of us? You know-- the chronically overwhelmed bunch that constantly ignores how we're feeling so that we can slap on a smile, and try to be strong all while wearily saying "I got this"?
If this sounds familiar, then it might be time to ditch the to-do list and honor your bandwidth. In today's episode, we're answering one huge question--"do I have the mental, physical and emotional capacity to add yet another damn thang to my plate?" It's a scary question for us #GoalGetters to answer because we love doing the work. But what happens if you just don't have the bandwidth right now? Well, check out today's episode to find out!

Picture this--You're at your desk getting hella work done. Your coffee is strong, you have some lo-fi beats playing in the background and your favorite candle is quietly flickering. You're operating in your zone of genius and you love it.
As you're busy doing your thang, a thought pops up in your head--"shouldn't I be documenting this for Instagram? You kinda dismiss the thought because you're focused and enjoying the work. But the thought pops up again--Shouldn't I stop and create a Reel right quick?" And just like that the pressure sets in-- the pressure to always show up on Instagram no matter what.
I used to stop what I was doing to get my Instagram on, but it was so hard to get back into my creative groove. So you know what I started doing? Only documenting or creating for social media when I felt inspired too. Algorithm be damned. And guess what it's been a total game changer!
In today's quick tip, we're talking about focusing on the deep work + how to not always bend to the pressure to"show up" and constantly churning out content for Instagram.

So you have this big idea...
And you're probably thinking...
"This is it! This is my one chance to get it right/ make a million bucks/ revamp my career/ have my big break/ be successful/ etc."
Now I get it-- your goals are big, and the stakes to make them happen are even bigger. So it's only natural that you want this leap of faith to be an instant success.
And listen, honey, I don't blame you, but what happens when it doesn't work out like that? When you launch, and you only get two clients or a handful of downloads? Well, the tendency for most of us #GoalGetters is to give the hell up. We hate "failure" with a passion and we'll do anything in our power to avoid it.
But what if it didn't have to go down like that? What would it look like for you to release yourself from all that pressure? How would it feel to give yourself some space to experiment and play with your goals and not make them the end all be all?
In today's episode, we're taking it back to middle school and we're figuring out how to get a little bit more scientific with our goals and dreams. How to look at failure and success as an experiment so that we can keep going even after facing setbacks.
