  • Ep 289: How to Successfully Exit Your Business With Joe Valley

    Send us a text

As business owners, our goal is mostly focused on building and growing our businesses. However, once it’s up and running, we need to start thinking about an exit goal.

In this episode, best-selling author of the EXITpreneur Playbook Joe Valley talks about setting up your exit goals for your business. He shares the five critical steps to consider before selling your business.

Listen up and let's set some goals.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODE

    • Include exits in your goals.
    • Reverse engineer your path to that goal.
    • One key differentiator when you're selling your business is understanding that you're selling the business as a multiple of discretionary earnings and for e-commerce business owners, the inventories are always sold separately.
    • If you renegotiate the cost of goods sold halfway through the year, you get to do an add-back for that.
    • Shift your mindset from an entrepreneur to an exitpreneur.
    • Learn about deal structures.
    • Create competition when selling your business.
    • When a good advisor has your best interest in mind, in the long run, it helps them more.
    • The valuations are 10% math and 90% art.
    • Documentation is a critical part that buyers are looking for.
    • Once you've got a business that's up and running, it's time to think about those exit goals.
    • Business is not about selling anything. It's how many people you can reach, connect with, educate, and help.

In this episode, Jordan West talks about what creatives are going to work in 2022 for e-commerce. He also shares some platforms where good creative makes all the difference.

    Listen up and learn!

    KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODE

    • Flat lays are still performing fairly well but they don't tell a story in the kind of way that people in 2022 want to be talked to and the way they're consuming content.
    • The most visited app in 2021 is Tiktok.
    • This is a huge time to make content that is working on the Tiktok platform.
    • Instagram Reels, Instagram Stories, and Facebook Stories make incredible results in return on ad spend.
    • We've seen with one of our own brands a 7.5% return on ad spend on Snapchat.

The kinds of creatives that will actually work

    • Video creatives should always educate and entertain. [Edu-tain]
    • Audio is your friend and audio is the way you're going to explain your items.
    • Voice overlays are still gonna continue to absolutely kill in 2022.
    • After educating and entertaining people, make sure to have a strong call to action.
    • The videos that work on Tiktok are generally gonna work on Youtube as Youtube ads. It's all about those first 3-5 seconds hooking people so they actually want to listen to what you're going to have to say.
