This episode with James Gillespie from Cleanbill is a completely Australia-specific conversation, that will be interesting and relevant for some of my audience, and not-so-much, for others. I was the metaphoric fish out of water in this chat but I definitely learned a few things and I think James and I managed to share some valuable information and insights around Australian health care (specifically, bulk billing), that will be helpful to many. But…. if you're looking to be amused, entertained or inspired today, this probably ain't for you. This instalment clearly falls into the 'information and education' category of the TYP library.

Imagine writing a book in 2009 and it’s moderately successful, but doesn't break any records. Then somehow, sixteen years later in 2025, in the middle of a live broadcast of an NFL game, one of the best players in the sport (A.J. Brown, wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles) is seen by millions of people on national TV reading that very book. Almost overnight, the book surges to No. 1 on Amazon, becomes a national bestseller, and the relatively unknown author is now being chased by media outlets all over the world for an interview. Well, that's exactly what happened to Jim Murphy, author of 'Inner Excellence: Achieve Extraordinary Business Success Through Mental Toughness'. I loved this chat, love Jim’s philosophy, love his message, and love his energy.
Enjoy.

While this episode is partly a conversation for anyone interested in learning about the science, art and profession of public speaking, Bobby and I also share some general insights and ideas for anyone at any level, wanting to build some confidence and skill in front of any kind of personal, professional or social group. Enjoy.

Despite the title, I’m not even being inappropriate. For a change. This chat with Tiff was full of curious and tasty tid or titbits. In a brief but jam-packed thirty minutes, we covered vast conversational territory and touched on some important topics and ideas. Enjoy.

Well, this was probably the 'loosest' instalment of TYP in almost two thousand episodes. I blame Patrick. And Tiff. I was just an unsuspecting pawn in their sordid on-air game. Of course I was. My guess is that a percentage of people will love it, some won't and some will use it as mildly amusing background noise, while doing their workout, cleaning the house or ticking off some other mundane item on the daily to-do list. Seriously, this is maybe the most fun I have had on a podcast.
Enjoy. Or avoid.

You know what I love about my TYP 'job'? I'm always talking with people who have so much to teach me; people with profound knowledge, experience, understanding and expertise that I don't have. As it turns out, I didn't know as much about trauma as I thought I did. Fortunately, this episode allowed me to connect with someone who is truly a world leader in this space. I loved Dr. Aimie and loved the conversation. I hope you enjoy it too. **Dr. Aimie Apigian, MD, MS, MPH, is a double Board-Certified Physician, boarded in both Preventive and Addiction Medicine with a Masters in Biochemistry and a Master's in Public Health. She is a leader, speaker and founder of Trauma Healing Accelerated, LLC where she not only continues to lead individuals in their own healing journey but trains professionals around the world to do the same.

Trying figure how you work, is a lifelong challenge. You don't work like me. Or anyone, actually. Well, not exactly. Physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, personally, professionally; there's no generic 5-step plan that 'works' equally for all of us. My best diet could make you unwell. Your best job, could be my professional nightmare. Your relaxing yoga class, could trigger my claustrophobia. The joke that makes me laugh, might make you furious. Dr. Jodi and I go far and wide in this chat and if I'm honest, I think I get a little high-horsey and soap-boxy in the second half. Nonetheless, we had fun and chat about some important and broadly-relevant issues. Enjoy.

So, Dr. Cam had the snip (24 hours before we chatted) and no, he probably didn't want me leading with this for the show notes but f**k it, here we are. Okay, here I am. Seriously, it was a really interesting chat about how it all 'worked' from a clinical, psychological, experiential, and sociological (chatting with the Doc while he's holding your... junk) perspective. Also, we spoke about other stuff. Enjoy.

We like to think we're independent thinkers, making conscious choices and forming our own ideas. But what if you're more influenced than you realise? What if your beliefs, attitudes, and even your identity are being shaped - subtly and consistently - by the people you spend the most time with? Or at the very least, the people you pay attention to? There's that old saying: "You become the average of the five people you hang around with the most." It's not scientifically precise, but it's not bullsh*t either. In this episode, we explore how the company we keep shapes our thoughts, filters our reality, and maybe even rewires our brain. We talk influence, identity, thought cults, and the fine line between your truth and someone else's programming.

Kelly Smith is back on TYP asking more great questions and this is an important and relevant conversation for many; especially those of us using some form of tech to track, monitor and guide our health/fitness journey. And don't panic tech fiends, it's not bad news but it is interesting and definitely food for thought. Enjoy.
