Rich Valenza is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of RaiseAChild. As the father of two children adopted through Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, Rich understands firsthand the trials and tribulations of LGBT community members and of single parents who seek to build families.

In addition to his personal experience, he brings the knowledge gained from serving five years as a board member and three years as the president of The Pop Luck Club, which promotes the well-being of gay prospective parents, gay parents, and their children.

In establishing RaiseAChild, Rich has drawn on more than 20 years’ success in marketing and development for broadcast media and nonprofit organizations. He has used his expertise in working with leading national and international corporations to form strategic partnerships with community service agencies, national and regional LGBT organizations, and businesses to build RaiseAChild’s strength and influence.

Here's a little about Nathan :

"I am a therapist and national child welfare consultant who uses my life, educational, and professional experiences to improve the foster care system throughout North America. I entered foster care when I was 10 after significant abuse and neglect, as well as insufficient child welfare interventions, resulted in two of my siblings dying. Once in care, I received a wealth of supports and services that allowed me to heal and thrive, and I was later adopted. Upon discovering that my foster care experience was unique, I made the decision to center my career around increasing outcomes for future generations of children impacted by the foster care system.

Over the last ten years, I have worked with young people on crafting their stories and using their personal experiences to impact system changes, which included passing the Foster Children’s Bill of Rights in Missouri. I later developed and launched a transition program for young adults aging out of foster care that is staffed by alumni of foster care and uses a no-eject, self-determination model of support. As the founder of Resilience Recognized, I continue to use my knowledge to help agencies, organizations, and states identify and develop programs and policies that focus on authentically engaging youth, placing them at the center of decision making and recognizing their inherent strengths."

Zack is the oldest of 10 kids. He first spoke at the adoption agency his mom founded when he was 13. He went onto work there after college. As Associate Director, Zack is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Adoption STAR. His position includes accomplishing compliance objectives, establishing compliance standards, and taking the lead on the planning and organization of site visits and licensing reviews. He is also responsible for supervising staff, human resources, and enhancing a client experience through quality assurance, etc. Zack also oversees Adoption STAR’s satellite offices and programs. 

Zack first joined the agency in 2009, but even before that he was a volunteer speaker.  Zack has held various positions over the years working in intake, compliance, as well as client relations. 

As an adoptee, Zack feels a special connection to adoption and all the processes involved. He is very open to sharing his personal story. Zack participates as a facilitator in pre-parenthood classes and adoption orientation sessions. Additionally, Zack is the facilitator of ACE (Adoptee Circle of Experience support group) providing support, resources and search information for adult adoptees. He is a talented and frequent speaker at nationwide conferences and workshops and a tireless advocate for adoption education and permanency planning to be in the best interest of children.

Outside of adoption, Zack loves watching Netflix, eating, traveling, music, cleaning, and spending time with loved ones.

Liverpool City Council Fostering Service is the Local Authority fostering service responsible for over 1,500 looked after children in Liverpool.  Their priority is the welfare of our children and young people.  They are not-for-profit and as much as possible they use their own foster carers to look after children so they can support them in their local communities.
