The WeSTAT Community had a LOT to say about Mother's Day! As one contributor put it, the day is just a mixed bag. A mixed bag of emotions and feelings that run the gamut from grief that is birthed from the loss of our own mothers to the disappointments of motherhood that are only highlighted when we don't feel 'seen' or acknowledged, on this one particular day.
JessB is ever opinionated in her 'take matters into her own hands' kind of way- as she describes the orders she gives her family to ensure she is recognized appropriately (can we say control freak?!) and JessK travels down the road of memory lane to her very first Mother's Day and the total disaster it turned out to be.
No matter how you slice it, the day is loaded with thoughts and expectations that we definitely should be talking about!

The Two Jess(es) have the extreme pleasure to sit down with the HILARIOUS podcast host and author, John Moe to talk about...DEPRESSION. As May is Mental Health Awareness Month, John Moe's fourth book entitled The Hilarious World of Depression becomes the center of this episode. John is refreshingly candid about his life long struggle with depression, and shares the methods that work for HIM. He talks with JessK and JessB about the many misconceptions around depression and those who fight daily to keep their heads above water. Through analogies and story telling, John explains how he is able to keep working in his purpose- helping us all find a way to exhale in the middle of depression, through laughter, even if we can't get out of bed.
Show Notes:
John Moe has served as host of national public radio broadcasts such as Weekend
America, Marketplace Tech Report and, from 2010- 2015, Wits. His reporting has been heard on All Things Considered, Morning Edition, Marketplace, Day to Day, and more. Offering many pieces of practical advice on managing the circus of what we call life, Jenn shares her perspective as a working mom of three teenage boys. She gets really honest about the illusiveness of a work life balance, and shows us how we can decide what goes into the rings of our own circus.
Thinking strategically about not being 'mommytracked' at work, getting back into the work force after taking time off, and having the fortitude to ask for what you are worth, Jenn offers invaluable nuggets of wisdom for women as they juggle all.the.things.
Referencing the current crisis, as many of us are all trying to work from home and home school our kids, she says the silver lining is that the whole world is now an audience to the struggle of the working parent. Jenn gets really honest about lowering the expectations for ourselves right now, but also using this time to think and plan strategically for when the world resumes some sort of normality.

Join TTJ(es) for a break from all the madness to talk about pockets. More specifically, the history behind pockets in clothing, why they disappeared from women's clothing and the shared excitement we feel, as women, when we find surprise pockets in a new dress.
Why do little boys pants have pockets and girls' pants don't? Jess and Jess challenge this design with their wit and shared frustration.

In this episode, TTJ(es) have the privilege of sitting down for a heart to heart with nationally recognized speaker, author of Taking My Life Back, and podcast host of The Rebekah Gregory Show, (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-rebekah-gregory-show/id1497445188) Rebekah Gregory.
Almost seven years ago, TO THE DAY, Rebekah was attending the Boston Marathon as a spectator, with her five year old son, Noah, when a terrorist attack changed her life, her body, and the way she saw the world, forever.
In this very candid conversation, Rebekah takes us back to that day, why she was there in the first place and talks to us about 'the obligation to be grateful.' Rebekah gets really honest about what it's like to survive survival so publicly, finding purpose in the tragedy, and picking up the pieces of a life you never expected to live.
Rebekah brings an approachable inspiration with her optimism, honesty and laughter.
Show Notes:
Rebekah Gregory is a nationally recognized public speaker & author whose life was forever changed due to the bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. This act of terrorism may have claimed her leg, but it could not claim her spirit. Since then, Rebekah has used her platform in a huge way by traveling all over the country speaking out against evil, and encouraging people to turn their obstacles into opportunities.
In 2017, Rebekah had her first book "Taking My Life Back" published. Shortly after, she launched Rebekah's Angels Foundation, which she and her husband created to fund mental health treatment for children and families suffering from trauma.
