Why is it so hard to break old habits and create new ones?
Really it comes down to the science behind how your brain works. The more you think a certain thought, the more you strengthen that neural pathway in your brain, and the easier it becomes to think that thought again. In this episode, we’re talking about the challenges of blazing new neural pathways alone vs. with help.
I have quite a story for you to illustrate my point that involves a very chaotic family ski trip and a lot of learning curves.
If you want to learn how to effectively change habits or create new ones, this episode is for you.

Do you struggle to spend money on yourself?
Whenever the Weight Loss for Doctors Only program opens up, I hear from women physicians who are interested in it but can’t bring themselves to sign up. They want results, they know it would help them, but they just can’t do it. I want to explore why we struggle so much to invest in ourselves.
As a doctor, you are highly influential in other people’s lives, so it’s logical that when you are at your best physically and mentally, you are better able to positively influence the lives that you touch. If investing in yourself is the way to achieve that, isn’t it the best thing to do?
In this episode, I'm teaching you how to reframe your thinking about investing in yourself and sharing an example from my life of a time I almost talked myself out of investing in myself.
If you feel guilty about spending money on yourself, this is for you.

You might have heard of toxic positivity, but have you heard of toxic independence?
In this episode, we’re talking about how to move away from toxic independence and closer to an appropriate amount of independence.
You’ll learn what toxic independence is, where it comes from, and how to overcome it. You might be surprised to learn as you listen that you have more toxic independence traits than you think! I was surprised too. I hope this episode helps you become more aware of your own thoughts and actions and maybe even start to depend on others a little (or a lot) more.
If the thought of giving up your independence makes you cringe, don’t panic. It will all make sense when you tune in.

Could your relationship with food be affecting your pet’s health?
Nadina Cojocaru is here to talk to us about how pets become overweight as a result of being overfed by their owners.
When a pet parent is no longer emotionally eating, it is common for them to start offering more food to their pet instead. Nadina sees many overweight pets who have been emotionally overfed by their owners and she wants to help.
She knows how fun it can feel to excessively treat your pet, but she wants to help owners understand the issues that can arise as a result. Giving your pet too much food is not loving, so let’s talk about some other ways to show them love and keep them healthy!
Nadina provides the practical tools for vets just like herself to beat the burnout, and the stress, and create a sustainable life that they LOVE - and she has a LOT of fun whilst doing it! Some pounds might get lost in the process.
If you want to help your pet live its happiest and healthiest life, tune in!

Have you ever had a little stumble and felt like you ruined your whole plan; like you’ll never be able to lose that weight?
If you stumbled on the sidewalk, it wouldn’t stop you from ever going for a walk again, right? So how do we take that approach to stumbling and apply it to weight loss?
We all stumble physically and sometimes we stumble figuratively on our journeys to weight loss or freedom around food. In this episode, I’m teaching you how to handle a little stumble so that it doesn’t ruin your day or your plan.
There’s no way you’re going to go through the process of losing weight permanently without having some stumbles, so you’re better off preparing for them than trying to pretend they’ll never happen. A little stumble is not a big deal, but it can be all too easy to turn it into a big deal in your head through the way you talk to yourself.
I want to share a method for approaching those little stumbles so that you can support yourself and stop that negative self-talk.
If you want to stop beating yourself up after a stumble, tune in to this episode!

Many physicians experience burnout at some stage in their careers, putting themselves, their patients, and even their colleagues at risk. With the amount of responsibility and ever-increasing hours, it’s not hard to see why this is such a common occurrence. However, this inability to find a work-life balance is not sustainable and should not just be accepted as the norm. So, in this episode, Dr. Jimmy Turner, an academic anesthesiologist and a certified coach for physicians, will join the show to share his advice for creating the time and mindset shifts you need to create a life you love.

Do you pay attention to the way in which you think about aging? And in particular, what you think about yourself as you age? You may not realize that there are sneaky ways in which your own self-talk can actually hold you back, and that’s exactly what I’m diving into in this episode. Listen in as I explore how our thoughts and our words can have a dramatic effect on how we view not only aging, but ourselves as we age (or go through any major change, including pregnancy and birth!), and how a small shift in our own self-talk can create an amazing ripple effect in the rest of our lives.
