How do you go about asking for what you want in the workplace?
No one really teaches you how to have difficult conversations when it comes to asking for the compensation you deserve, so it can be hard to speak up and advocate for yourself.
The reality is if we want to have any hope of closing the gender pay gap in medicine then we have to learn to ask for what we want. On top of that, you deserve to be paid for your value!
Our guest, Linda Street, MD, is a former client turned negotiation coach who is also a physician in practice right now. She’s here to teach us about negotiation.
Dr. Linda Street is a board-certified Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist and Life Coach who focuses specifically on physician negotiations. She is the Founder and CEO of Simply Street MD Negotiation Coaching where she helps female physicians take charge of their lives and negotiate for the salary they deserve. She lives and breathes to close the gender gap, starting with you!
Whether you're overdue a raise, you’re applying for jobs right now, or you want to strengthen your negotiation skills for future conversations, this episode is worth tuning into.

I want to propose an alternative to work/life balance. What if we worked towards work/life alignment instead?
I don’t know about you, but I cringe when I hear the term “work/life balance.” The more we try to achieve it, the worse we feel about ourselves. For something to be balanced, it has to be perfectly matched on both sides, and I just don’t think that’s realistic when it comes to work and life. That’s why I prefer to think of getting my work and life aligned.
In this episode, I’m talking about the difference between balance and alignment and why I think one makes more sense than the other when it comes to our work and lives.
If you feel defeated constantly trying to find the perfect balance, I feel you, and I’m here to give you permission to stop.

In this episode, we’re celebrating National Women Physician’s Day (February 3rd), and I figured what better way to celebrate than by talking about what helps women physicians to thrive?
I’ve learned a lot from coaching women physicians for so many years, so now I’m bringing it all together in a simple, actionable episode for you. I’m sharing four categories for you to think about to help you thrive.
You have so much to offer and what you offer is so valuable, you deserve to be thriving while you do it.
If you’re ready to start feeling like you’re thriving, tune in.

We tend to think of winning or losing as black or white. It’s one or the other. What if that didn’t have to be the case?
Welcome to the second episode in the New Year, New Thoughts series. In this episode, I’m talking all about chapter 3 of How to Lose Weight for the Last Time - reframing losing. I’m reading some small sections from the book and then going even deeper right here on the podcast, so whether you’ve read the book or not, you’ll get a lot out of this episode.
The concept of reframing losing is an important one because it opens us up to so many opportunities. It’s not winning or losing, it’s winning or learning! Doesn’t that change everything?
If you’re ready to be done with losing, tune in.

This is the first episode in the New Year, New Thoughts series that I’m hosting here on the podcast.
I’m rejecting the concept of “new year, new you,” because I don’t think you need to be a new you. I think it’s okay to accept yourself just the way you are right now.
In this series, I’ll be elaborating on some of the chapters from my book, How to Lose Weight for the Last Time: Brain-Based Solutions for Permanent Weight Loss. I’ll talk about what is said in the book, and then I’ll dive deeper into it here on the podcast.
This episode is all about chapter 2, “Emotional Eating: Why You Always Want Food,” and we’re talking about how to change your food-related thoughts.
If you ever feel powerless against your thoughts about food, this episode is for you.

Could you use some help processing a loss or supporting someone else through their loss?
Those of you who have been around for a while might recognize our guest in this episode, Krista St-Germain, from her earlier episodes on the podcast. Krista is here to talk about how to cope with loss and grief.
She’s sharing some of the latest research and insights into grief, what the grief plateau is, and the tools you can use to cope with a loss.
Krista St-Germain is a Master Certified Life Coach, Post-Traumatic Growth and grief expert, widow, mom, and host of The Widowed Mom Podcast. When her husband was killed by a drunk driver in 2016, Krista’s life was completely and unexpectedly flipped upside down. After therapy helped her uncurl from the fetal position, Krista discovered Life Coaching and Post Traumatic Growth and learned the tools she needed to move forward and create a future she could get excited about. Now she coaches and teaches other widows so they can love life again, too.
Whether you’re processing a loss right now or not, this episode will set you up with skills to cope with loss in the future or to support other people in your life who are grieving.
