If you’ve been dating for any amount of time, I’m guessing that you’ve experienced this situation, where a guy comes on strong to woo you and then all but disappears off the face of the earth. You’d think that by the time we reach the midlife years this wouldn’t happen and yet it continues.
In this episode I explore the disconnect between a man’s thinking in his 20s and in midlife. This is rooted many times in the stereotypical gender roles that men learn in childhood and the natural inclination to ‘get lazy’ once they find the connection they’re looking for.
Let’s discuss the DEEPER reasons why men change speed once they find a suitable partner and how to keep the dating energy alive.

It’s a new year and with that comes new possibilities for love and success. My favorite memes for the new year are the photos of a brand new book opened to the first blank page. You alone are the author of your story and I encourage you to approach each blank page as a new chance for happiness and the man of your dreams.
I’m thrilled to be sharing the mic with my beloved, Marie, as we share how our relationship began, how we both felt about a long distance relationship, and some of the challenges we face today.
Let’s discuss the DEEPER ways strong relationships can develop, even when it starts off on a dating app or long distance.

When you’re in a disagreement with your partner, do you place more importance on getting the issue resolved or on being right? In a new relationship, you might want to be right as you’re testing the waters with a new guy but as a relationship deepens, high-quality women will focus on resolving the issue.
When one falls into ‘being right’ it’s much easier to fall into a victim consciousness. Once you start adapting those victim consciousness thoughts – such as ‘everyone is out to get me’ or ‘there are no good men in the world’ – it’s tough to overcome that and find your VICTOR consciousness. When you are a victor, you have confidence in yourself and believe that you can create the life you want, including finding a suitable man who meets your high standards.
Let’s discuss the DEEPER characteristics of high-quality women and how they uphold their high dating standards.

Midlife dating comes with a myriad of emotions, mostly brought on by being unsure of how to navigate this new world. You want to find a partner but also don’t want to get hurt again. You start to question who would make a good partner. Maybe you start to doubt your judgment, especially if you’ve had some first dates that didn’t lead anywhere or the men were less than ideal.
In this episode I share my own experiences about dating after divorce and explore the deeper reasons of why I could be intimate with a woman but then not have the desire to call her or want to spend time with her. It’s a complex range of emotions at play and it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve done anything wrong. This is where personal development becomes so important, especially if a long term relationship is what you’re looking for.
Let’s discuss the DEEPER reasons why guys can like you enough to be intimate but ignore you after the fact. It’s not just because they want to be a ‘player’.

Hollywood has really fooled us into thinking that falling in love happens quickly, almost like a spell is placed on us and we fall for that perfect person and we live happily ever after. Even though we all know it doesn’t happen like that, we still hold out hope that our dream person will come along and our lives will be better.
What doesn’t get shown in those movies are the deep conversations that are necessary to have in order to know someone on a deep level. The surface qualities of a guy is what will attract him to you; the deeper qualities and values of this person is what will make you fall in love.
Let’s discuss the DEEPER signs that indicate if you’re headed toward love or breakup.

In today’s society, with so many people wanting instant gratification, relationships are often tossed aside if one person doesn’t get what they want right away. While we don’t want to force a relationship on someone who doesn’t want to be with us, it happens all too frequently, simply because midlife men are scared to make an investment in a relationship.
Some men might want to be a player if they settled down at too young an age and they feel like they “missed out”. Some men might have gotten burned in a divorce and are hesitant (or unable) to trust another woman. And some men just don’t know what they want or get scared when they start to develop feelings for someone.
In no way am I excusing this behavior. Men and women alike should discover what they want out of life – and a relationship – before they get back into the dating pool. But these instances make it all the more important to have conversations early on, before the relationship gets physical or too deep.
Let’s discuss the DEEPER reasons why men look at relationships as “disposable” and how you can prevent this from happening to you.

We all have hidden fears because we’re human but that doesn’t make it any easier to admit to our partners what they are. So, not only do we have these fears but now we’re fearful of sharing with the people who are supposed to care and love us the most.
The reasons are numerous: fear of being vulnerable; fear of our partners not understanding; fear of being made fun of; fear of intimacy; gender stereotypes that men aren’t supposed to be afraid of anything. We need to understand why we are fearful to share on a deeper level before we can make improvements in our communication skills.
Let’s discuss the DEEPER fears of men and how women can help them feel comfortable sharing.

Commitment to a relationship or marriage at any age should not be taken lightly. This next level in a relationship has great meaning and importance but those things differ as you get older. While men in their 20s or 30s might seem to commit earlier in the dating process, men in their 40s or older often take longer, and rightfully so.
Age DOES have an impact on how quickly men commit to a relationship, quite simply because relationships are more complex as you get older. Most midlife singles are divorced, which brings an ex-spouse and usually children into the picture.
Many people after they get divorced will dive into personal development teachings, books, or classes, so if you’re doing that type of work, normally you’ll want someone else who has done personal development work, too. Divorced people generally don’t want to have that experience again, so they might be slow to commit just do they don’t make the same mistake.
Let’s discuss the DEEPER ways to know if someone is ready to commit to a relationship or if they’re still determining if they’re with the right partner.

When we’re talking about attraction, it’s important to differentiate between PHYSICAL attraction and EMOTIONAL attraction. As you can guess, physical attraction relates to the chemistry we feel with another person. It’s the reaction we feel based on the visual stimuli we see in another person. This is where lust and limerence some into play because those are both based on physical attraction.
Emotional attraction goes much deeper than physical. You might be attracted by the physical body of someone first but the emotional attraction is what will keep you there. This includes the values of this person, how they treat you, how you communicate together, etc. The ideal formula is to find someone that appeals to both your physical and emotional attractions.
Let’s discuss the DEEPER ways men will show that they’re emotionally attracted to you, even if they don’t know that phrase.

We put a lot of pressure on ourselves in these mid-life years, especially when it comes to finding the right partner. Men and women alike figure it must be easier to sort out those potential partners from the riff raff because we have life experiences to draw from and know what we like, dislike, and want.
Well, it’s good that mid-lifers know what they want but in some ways, dating is a little more difficult because we’re meeting complete and total strangers. A century ago we’d be meeting people within our own communities, who were already vetted by others they knew. In today’s world, especially with dating apps, we’re dating outside the communities so a little more time is necessary if you’re on the search for Mr. Right.
Let’s discuss the DEEPER ways to protect your emotions when dating and how to determine when to cut ties or when to move forward with someone .
