After discovering her spouse of many years was gay, Sheri Davis, LCSW, a mom of two daughters, not only faced divorce, she also had to face the fact that a secret had been kept from her - two difficult hurdles to overcome. Now, she's helping other couples cope with the same reality and navigate these waters with more ease and confidence.
In this episode of Moms Moving On, Sheri not only shares her powerful story, she shares how she helps others:
Sheri is a Certified Divorce Coach with 20 years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker. She believes that there are many ways to be a family and helps people at any stage of the divorce process make decisions to create a healthy post-divorce family that benefits everyone. Sheri’s story of divorce and the choices she had to make after learning that her husband was gay, offers hope and provides an important reminder that we all can choose how to respond to the curveballs life throws our way.
Sheri has a Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Washington with a focus on Children, Youth & Family, and a Master of Arts degree in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Southern California. During her career she has provided trauma-informed counseling services to adolescents and their families, college students, graduate students and young adults, collaborating with clients to reach their goals.
Sheri is a proud mom of two daughters in college who are grateful to their mom and dad for creating a post-divorce modern family based on respect and love. As Sheri and her former husband navigated a cross-country co-parenting relationship there were some challenges, but they worked hard to create a family for their daughters that allows for celebrating holidays with extended family, graduations and traveling together -- and yes, staying at each other’s homes from time to time as well.
