Young women in China are rejecting high heels, makeup, diets, and other norms centered on appearance that they see as costly and unfair.

Instead, they are embracing buzz-cut hairstyles, loose clothing, and natural, cosmetic-free looks.

The trend, known as "escape beauty duty" or tuo mei yi in Mandarin, emerged last year and content about it has garnered more than 21 million views on Xiaohongshu.

To stir the pot even more, Ye just dropped a blast from the past photo from his China days, turning heads and cranking up the hype for his "Vultures" solo show in Haikou. He shared a childhood pic on Instagram from his days in China when his mom was teaching at Nanjing University and captioned it simply with a bold "BACK."

If (like us) you lose countless hours of the day scrolling on your FYP, you've likely come across a viral video in which content creator Jools Lebron used the phrase "very demure, very mindful" to describe her makeup before heading to an interview. It's all about being mindful, very cutesy and most importantly— not doing too much.

The phrases have been inundating social media to email inboxes as brands and celebrities hop on the trend.

It wasn't so long ago that clothing retailer Lululemon was on top of the world, as people looked for comfy clothes because they weren't going anywhere anyway. 

But as return-to-office mandates get fired up in earnest, and those on the bad end of surging layoffs find themselves less interested in buying clothes, the effect is hitting Lululemon hard. That sent shares into a nosedive, down 46% since the beginning of the year.

However, Lululemon's greater challenge lies not in external factors but in something more internal. The company has made errors on product categories, struggling to choose between catering to a larger group of customers with more categories or sticking to a smaller, easy-to-define consumer base.

In a move that shocked many, he stepped back, turning down work and even not responding to his agent.

Wang Yibo is a smoldering heartthrob who shot to international fame as Lan Wangji, starring opposite Xiao Zhan in hit drama The Untamed.

It is described as the “most spleen-venting incident of the year”. A Chinese woman, who felt she had been snubbed by staff at a Louis Vuitton (LV) outlet in Chongqing, returned to the store with 600,000 yuan (US$84,000) in cash two months later to get her own back.

In the initial exchange, the woman, carrying a Hermes handbag, said she went to the LV outlet to buy clothes and staff behaved in a stand-offish way towards her. She was met with eye rolls and was directed towards outdated seasonal garments. This left her angry and fuming.

Two months later, she returned with a big bag of cash to the shop assistants on the pretext of paying for the clothes. It took the staff two hours to count the banknotes, but as soon as the entire drill was over, the woman told them she had changed her mind about the purchase and would be leaving instead.

While her Friends character, Phoebe, had a heart of gold — she wasn't necessarily the sharpest tool in the shed. Lisa Kudrow, on the other hand, couldn't be further from her iconic dim-witted character.

With an IQ of 154, Kudrow graduated from Vassar College in New York with a Bachelor of Science before working with her father, a headache specialist, while picking up odd acting jobs.

During this time, she assisted with his research — gaining credit herself — for his study on the comparative likelihood of left-handed individuals developing cluster headaches.

Six months after graduation, however, Kudrow gave up science for screen — and we couldn't be more thankful. Can you imagine anyone else singing 'Smelly Cat?'

Social media users have accused her of being evasive and not interested in the subject matter of the film.

A resurfaced interview with Blake from 2016 has also added fuel to the fire. In the interview, Blake, joined by her co-star Parker Posey, appears to take offence when the interviewer congratulates Blake on her baby bump.
