The Simplicity Sessions

Ask Me Anything

Listen Later

Welcome back to The Simplicity Sessions, I'm delighted that you’ve joined us today. My name is Jenn Pike, your host, registered holistic nutritionist, medical exercise specialist, the best-selling author of the Simplicity Project and the creator of the women's revolutionary health program, The Hormone Project.

Today’s episode is an AMA (Ask Me Anything) episode. There were some questions from the audience that were asked not long ago so I decided to take some of the questions and answer them in this episode.

You can see the questions below in the next section and of course, hear my answers by listening to the episode.

If you have a question for me and my team, send it over to [email protected] or via Instagram at @jennpike and I'll do my best to share helpful insights, thoughts and advice.

Here are the main topics of today’s episode:
  • Is Phase Four the first day of bleed through the last day of bleed?
  • What are the best stretches for menstrual cramps?
  • How does The Hormone Project work for those of us who live in the United States?
  • Are you moving into a tiny house and where will it be?
  • Do you have advice for a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) wanting to start their own business?
  • How did you get started as an RHN?
  • Is it hard for you to travel because of your bookings?
  • If the body holds onto weight, despite many paths and programs, where do you look next?
  • What is the best way to figure out why I am not ovulating?
  • Have you ever heard of PMDD? My best friend has been diagnosed with this and is being told that she needs a full hysterectomy and that there is nothing that will stop her symptoms.
  • I am struggling in my luteal phase. I'm seeing a pattern of being very hard on myself, not having the best outlook on life, and perhaps fixating on things in my life that are not perfect. Is there a supplement you could recommend to help me through this time?

Quotes -

  • “The first phase is your follicular phase , which starts after your period ends. The second phase is your ovulatory phase, where you are actually ovulating. The third phase is your luteal phase, which is the longest of the four phases and happens between our ovulation and when your period actually starts. And then phase four is your actual bleeding. When you have your period.”
  • “The reason that we get the low back. Discomfort is because the uterus is actually contracting to be able to slough off and release the endometrium, which is the lining of the uterus.”
  • “...we work with women globally inside of the hormone project, all over the world.“
  • “...really focus in and dial in on what you are passionate about and stay committed to the process…”
  • “we have to understand why and how the body ovulates. So it starts in the brain, not in the oval. So if there's stress that's going on, if they're are sleep issues going on, if there's inflammation, that's going on autoimmune issues that are going on. If the body is stuck in a perpetual state of fight or flight and does not feel safe, your body has the ability in the brain and the connection within that pituitary gland to actually eliminate ovulation from happening
