Tune in to hear about 70.3 Northern California and Hradec Kralove, T100 Vancouver and Ironman Kalmar. A HUGE weekend of racing and we talk about it all!! Each one of these could have had a pod all to itself so strap in, it's a whistlestop tour!
This week we're diving into one of our FAVOURITE races! We talk through everything we know about the course, pacing and our experiences racing here. Our tips cover race day morning, understanding transition, pacing the swim, bike and enjoying the run to the MAX.
We also give you some unfiltered thoughts on the Pro Series Ironman Kalmar this weekend!
Every time we think "that has to be it", we're proved wrong. But, every time Steph keeps on showing up with a smile and ready to give it everything. Tune in for an update on what happened at Swansea 70.3, another diagnosis Steph's had and what this means for the rest of 2026.
Thank you, as ever, for all of your support. I know I WILL be back out there racing to the best of my ability, it's just taking longer than I imagined for it to happen.
Steph x
While it may not LOOK like a great result, let us break down the successes we took from Elsinore and the learnings we're putting into play for the next one!
Racing is important but it only happens a few times a year. Just as important are the debriefs so you learn and grow as an athlete ready for the next start line.
This week we have a FULL debrief from Ironman Lanzarote, burned feet and all. We run you through the race right up until the floor turned to lava and Steph ended in the medical tent.
DNF's aren't easy and we've had a run of them, so we'll be working through the processing of and moving on from disappointing race "finishes" over the next few episodes
Race announcements coming soon! We aren't done yet! The Kona dream lives on...
Thank you all for your support. We always said this would be the good, bad and ugly but we never realised how bad and ugly it would get. Our time is coming, we can feel it.
Race week is finally here for many of us… so let’s talk tapering.
In this episode of Buck the Trend, we run through the do’s and don’ts of tapering so you don’t end up overthinking it (or overdoing it) in the final days. We chat about how to ease off training without feeling flat, what’s actually worth focusing on, and the common mistakes people make right before race day.
If you’ve ever found yourself wanting to “just squeeze one more session in”… this one’s for you.
Keep it simple, trust what you’ve done, and get yourself to the start line feeling good.
PLUS a little insight from us heading into Ironman Lanzarote, it's been a great block so far! Steph's had a great block so far and it's only a few weeks to go until race day...
This week on Buck the Trend, we put the new training approach (The Hnatiw Method) to the test.
After laying it all out last episode, this is the reality check. What actually happened when it came to putting it into practice?! From expectations vs reality to the small wins, the struggles, and the adjustments already being made, this episode is an honest look at what the first few weeks have really felt like.
If you’ve ever been stuck in a cycle where you feel like you are working harder but not making any progress, this one's for you!
AS PROMISED, today we chat through the training approach we're trialling. From it's inception to the iterations we've tried over the last few months, we break down Steph's training cycle and the type of training she's doing.
It's not the Norwegian method and it's also very different to what social media tells you that you should be doing in training, but if this works it could be game-changing for Steph, her management of PoTS and racing!
Tune in to hear all about it and don't forget to leave your thoughts!
You've all heard of The Norwegian Method, but have you heard of The Hnatiw Method?
Well you have now!
We have a lot to catch up on and we run through everything that's gone on since Ironman New Zealand: the PoTS flare up, getting on track for Geelong, racing Geelong and what we've been up to in the weeks since getting home. Buckle up, it's a whistle-stop tour of the last few weeks!
It is officially the first race week of the season! We are here in Taupo, New Zealand for the first Ironman of the year and of the 2026 Pro Series. The start list is stacked and we can't wait to get this season started!
