The end of the year feels like a fantastic fresh start to many—so it has a lot of people (including myself) thinking about the future. Sometimes, though, thinking about the future can bring up some anxiety about the unknown.
But what if there was a person who could help you through these uncertainties? What if they could make you feel better about how things are going to turn out?
And what if I told you that person is YOU?
On today's episode, we are going to talk about your future self, how you can "communicate" with them, and the secret to making your future self into the person you want to be. Don't miss this one!

The holidays! The season of joy and family—for some of us. For others, it can also add shades of stress, anxiety, grief, and more.
That's why this week, I'm giving you what is essentially a holiday survival guide! I've got some tips that will not only help you survive the holidays, they'll help you thrive (sound familiar?)! Learn how to turn old anxieties into things you don't think twice about, and how to hack your brain to have the reactions YOU want to have (and not let anybody else take control).
Have a happy, resilient, holiday season!!

It's the holiday season, and nothing says "holidays" more than "traditions".
It can sometimes be hard to pinpoint the exact origin of a holiday tradition. But what if I told you that intentionally starting a new tradition can be meaningful, impactful, and help you enjoy the holidays more (your family too!)? Today, we're talking traditions: how can you create meaningful traditions that your family will want to pass down? How can traditions help us? And what does the science show us (as always!)?

Life coaching is something I talk about each week (of course), but something I don't talk about as much is the nitty-gritty—what does life coaching look like from a practical standpoint? What happens in a life coaching session?
To help out with that, I've asked Alida, one of the wonderful people I've worked with, to discuss her experience with life coaching. I explore with her the information that I shared with her that literally changed her life—the processes she now follows, and what a life coach actually did for her. Tapping/EFT/Emotional Freedom Technique. None of them are particularly catchy names, but the concept is exciting and different—and it looks like science is backing it up as well!
If you haven't heard of tapping/EFT therapy, today we're going to chat all about it. Have you ever struggled with meditation? Does your mind wander endlessly when you're trying to focus? You aren't the only one—I went through the same thing before I discovered tapping. Now, after trying it, I believe in it so much I'm getting certified! Listen today as I show you what tapping is, how it's different than standard meditation, and how studies are showing some pretty promising results.

This week, as most of you know, is Thanksgiving for my American friends (Happy Thanksgiving to all of you). I thought since that is the case, we could take some time to revisit the topic of Gratitude.
Gratitude isn't just saying "thanks"—it's so much more. I'd go as far as to say that it's vital to our mental health! It's also not just something to do, it's something we can continuously get better at through practice. Join me today as I speak about having more gratitude—how it can do everything from bouncing back from adversity to strengthening our immune system (WHAT?).

The phrase "I don't know" is a tricky one. It can both be something that's okay to admit, and a sneaky phrase that ends up being an avoidance mechanism.
Today, we're going to explore three things that you can do to override the sneaky thought of the cop-out and excuse of "I don't know". Learn some strategies (like writing) to help you discover the things you're feeling.

Today I've got the privilege of interviewing Betsy Jensen—a body and mind life coach. She helps people connect with their bodies and heal their chronic pain, while teaching neuroscience principles and current research on chronic pain. She uses proven strategies to calm the nervous system and rewire the brain to produce less pain. You can listen to her podcast, Unstoppable Body and Mind here: https://bodyandmindlifecoach.com/podcast
With Betsy's background in physical therapy, she's the perfect guest for today's topic. We're going to discuss the connection between body and mind, and how chronic pain can be dramatically affected by what's in your brain!

This is a big episode—I am flying solo.
As of October 1st, Heather and I decided to close up shop on H & L life coaching and head our separate ways. However, I am excited to take over the podcast and to continue to bring you all the things that will help you create the life that you want. The podcast will continue just as it has—there's just a lot more Leah!
Because of this, I thought that life transitions would be a very appropriate topic to talk about today. They can be good ones or they can be bad ones. They can start off as being bad and end up being really good or vice versa. They can bring up all the emotions. And of course you know I'm going to tell you, you need to feel your emotions (more on that too!). Dive in with me as we explore transitions, why our monkey brains resist them, and what we can do to help things flow smoothly.

Of course, don't forget the free download I mentioned in today's episode to help you feel your emotions: https://leahdavidsonlifecoaching.ck.page/aa8a710586

When we think about future self and all of the goals we want to achieve, we tend to look at the end goal, not so much the journey. Unfortunately for us, delayed gratification doesn't tend to come naturally. Focusing on the finish line means that we don't always achieve the results we want because we can get in our own way. But building a habit is exactly that—building. The tiny changes we make from day to day make all the difference.
On today's episode, we discuss those tiny changes we make, and how small choices can make a serious impact. Make sure to stay tuned to hear about how Heather climbed a mountain and what this all has to do with being a pilot!
As always, you can find us on our website, http://hl-lifecoaching.com, and join our Facebook group at facebook.com/groups/thebuildingresilienceclub. See you next week!
