With the start of the Eat Like Ruby Fat Loss Phase, I wanted to jump on and chat about the common things I see when people claim their fat loss program didnβt work. I see so often people saying βmy calorie deficit didnβt workβ or Iβm a perfectionist, and savage mode is turned on today to clock these narratives we tell ourselves. There is so much to understand when it comes to fat loss, so Iβm here to break it down and get you confident about starting your fat loss journey.Β

Todayβs episode is a direct link into last weekβs episode - my goals to finish 2023 - If you havenβt been in the loop, Iβve spent this year working towards a 5km running goal to honour my dad on fatherβs day. Now that I have achieved that goal, I wanted to break down what my goals look like for the rest of the year, and how I set achievable goals to ensure I get my desired outcome.Β

Todayβs episode is a deep and personal story for me. If you donβt know already, I lost my dad 7 years ago. Running was something I had convinced myself I wouldnβt do again, not only because itβs how my dad passed away but because of the injuries I have experienced in my lower back and leg. For Fatherβs day this year, I set a goal to run 5kms in honor of my dad, and have spent this year working towards smashing that goal. I take the time in this episode to talk about my journey of losing him and the impact that had on my nutrition and training. I hope you guys enjoy a storytime-style chat from me, and remember life happens and itβs okay to give yourself a break when the going gets tough.Β

Did you know that in Australia itβs illegal for PTβs to give out nutrition targets and meal plans unless they have a nutrition qualification. In the industry I see this happening so often, but the reality is everyone is different and requires different meal plans to best suit them. The common 6-8 week challenges, I believe, aren't an effect way to achieve fat loss. They lead to unhealthy mindsets and build a foundation that isnβt sustainable in your fitness journey. Today I unpack the common themes I see within gym challenges, and why I believe they arenβt beneficial for a successful fat loss phase.Β

Following on from the last couple of episodes where I went deep into the world of fat loss. Today Iβm unpacking further to help you better understanding how the body works during a fat loss phase. I see so many people try diet after diet and fall off track, so Iβm breaking down the misconceptions and beliefs that come with diets. We often hear others say βbread, pasta & carbs is badβ, and as we start to phase those foods out of our diet, we start to see results and assume that they are βbadβ. There is a lot that happens in the body to result in the change, and having that knowledge is powerful in order to smash out your fat loss phase.Β

Food is comfort for so many people. When thereβs something going on externally or internally in our life, food is the easiest way to find relief, and unfortunately alot of usΒ arenβt aware of our eating habits and how our life is contributing to this. We tend to say, βI need a meal planβ or βI need a nutritionist to help meβ, but until we identify the root cause of why weβre comfort eating, not alot will change.
Shack is back to tell us about his battle with comfort eating and what drove his habits. We share our journey together and some of the life challenges we battled that contributed to this, and hear the shift Shack experienced to changing his ways. Donβt forget how common it is to rely on food for relief, and there is a way to identify and change our eating habits for the better.Β
