My type of business is not like, ‘Oh, you were sitting at a computer, you were making, 12 or 14 bucks an hour’. That's not what it is…These are passionate people, and this is their career and their passion and I’m mentoring them. And it's like a family. So it's a little deeper than that. The connection is so much deeper.” - Alix Mane
                          • “Whether it's in my salon or in a coffee shop, there is no difference in the sense of customer service… in the sense of like, taste, smell, sight, sound, like all those things are so important because they leave lasting impressions. When Lee launched the beta for her event-planning business in January 2020, she couldn't have known just how big of a risk she was taking. In March 2020, it was clear that her company would have to pivot, Lee got to work turning these lemons into a wholesale supply worth of lemonade. Her secret? Well, she says focusing on the sheer excitement and thrill of being an entrepreneur building something from scratch carried her through any and all times of destabilizing uncertainty. What may have looked like the end for her business was really just the beginning of a major breakthrough.

Today, we sit down with Entreprenista 100 Award winner Lee Rubin, the CEO, and founder of Confetti, an online platform that empowers leaders to discover, plan, and book engaging team events. “As a female entrepreneur, investors get really into the nitty gritty of all the numbers, you have to have an answer to every question. You need to be prepared for everything and come out of every single conversation with an investor understanding which questions did they ask, and how do I perfect it a little bit better over time…but confidence, confidence, confidence. Confidence is the number one thing that's going to get somebody to write you a check.” - Lee Rubin

Laurel didn't learn how to create a winning brand strategy overnight. She worked on brands like Dove’s campaign for Real Beauty, Suave, Hasbro Toys, and Lipton before putting on her entrepreneurial hat and taking a chance on starting her business. Despite the risk of launching during the 2020 lockdown, Laurel managed to turn her self-funded hyperlocal snack brand into one that is nationally recognized and available in a CVS near you.

Today, we sit down with Laurel Orley, CEO and co-founder of Daily Crunch Snacks, a uniquely crunchy and tasty treat made from sprouted nuts. She shares with us what she wished she had known before becoming an Entreprenista, how a strategic partnership created the gift that kept on giving, how to connect with influencers to market your brand and the most challenging part of being an entrepreneur. You won’t want to miss it!

“Just to have these people who are so much bigger than you believe in you, makes you say okay, I'm onto something I'm going to keep on going.” - Laurel Orley

And while I want to be that one, I want to try my damn hardest to do that. They know the risks involved, and they're used to doing this” - Laurel Orley
                                              • “My motto is the squeaky wheel gets what they want. And being an entrepreneur, you have to follow up, and you have to keep on following up. You're not going to get the door open on the first try. It's just how it goes. “ - Laurel Orley

According to Tiffany, every day is a good day for a cookie. Especially during a Pandemic when she, like so many others across the country, would lose her corporate marketing job and be forced to regroup. Tiffany took this newfound freedom as an opportunity to focus full-time on chasing her dream of perfecting her skills and using them to make the ultimate cookie for bringing people together. Tiffany moved to LA, graduated from culinary school, interned with celebrity chef Curtis Stone while freelancing with other prominent chefs, and finally took the leap to get started on her own business. Through this, she discovered a key secret ingredient to successfully launching a business by centering community and honoring each cookie's nostalgic essence.

Today, we sit down with Tiffany Lewis, founder of Cookies with Tiffany, a Seattle-based cookie company with a mission to bring people together through food. She shares with us her most insightful tips for starting and launching a business, how she took her online business to a storefront and local farmer's markets, and the ways to create your own recipe for success through marketing. Tiffany also discusses her community's integral role in supporting her business and much more!

Emily jokes that she builds businesses based on the phase of life she is in, and she’s not lying. Her first business came from a shared need with her sister for online interior design. Her business today, Nurture&, came to life because she felt there was a hole in the market for millennial parents who wanted aesthetic and functional pieces.

Today, we sit down with Emily Motayed Lancaster, co-founder of Nurture&, a premium nursery furniture company. She shares what it was like starting a business during Covid, advice for raising capital, what it’s like being a mom and growing a business, and so much more.
