  • Iraq's Mosul: Rebuilding a city fractured by sectarian mistrust
The battle for Iraq's second city of Mosul is officially over and the Islamic State group is defeated, according to the army. But the city is still seeing sporadic suicide attacks. Meanwhile, new challenges lie ahead: clearing the rubble and defusing mines before rebuilding homes and infrastructure. But perhaps the most difficult task of all will be to repair a society fractured by sectarian mistrust. FRANCE 24's Simona Foltyn reports from Mosul. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Aline Schmidt.

  • Unwanted children: 3,800 babies abandoned in South Africa every year
In South Africa, some 3,800 babies are abandoned each year - that's ten every day. Sadly, the figure is steadily increasing. In the meantime, the adoption rate is in freefall. Beyond poverty and cultural aspects, critics say there are too many obstacles hindering the adoption process. Our correspondents in South Africa take a closer look. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Florence Viala.

  • Video: More lone juvenile migrants arriving in Italy
Since January, more than 85,000 migrants and asylum-seekers have landed in Italy - that's a 20% increase on the same period last year. Increasingly, they are minors who arrive alone, without their families - five times more than in 2011. Our correspondents went to Sicily, the main port of arrival for migrants, and met with several children and teenagers who are now adjusting to their new lives in Italy. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Aline Schmidt.

  • Agent 'Kateryna': Ukraine's anti-corruption hero
The government that came to power in Ukraine after the 2014 revolution pledged to end corruption, and the EU also made progress on that front with it being a key condition for Ukrainians gaining visa-free travel in June. It has taken a long time, but the country’s ‘Anti-Corruption Bureau’ is now fully operational. It has just carried out an ambitious sting operation that caught at least one MP demanding huge bribes. But things did not turn out exactly as the Bureau had hoped… Watch our video. FRANCE 24's Ukraine correspondent Gulliver Cragg brings us this report, featuring hidden camera footage. Please note the order of this footage is not in chronological order for clarity purposes. You can find more details, complete with video extracts in chronological order, here.
And if you can understand Russian and Ukrainian, there’s an even more extensive version here.

  • Two years after Iran nuclear deal, a mixed picture
It's been two years since a landmark deal curbed Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions. At the time, many Iranians celebrated, hoping the deal would open relations with the West and boost the ailing economy. But two years on, some sanctions remain in place and many Iranians still struggle with daily life. However, foreigners, including French entrepreneurs, remain hopeful and continue to invest in the country. Our Tehran correspondents report. A programme prepared by Gaëlle Essoo and Aline Schmidt.

  • As Cameroon's jungle shrinks, pygmies' lifestyle is under threat
In eastern Cameroon, over 20,000 hectares of virgin forest are disappearing every year due to logging, forcing the indigenous Baka pygmies out of the jungle they rely on for survival. They're often forced to try to make a living performing menial tasks for low pay by the roadside. As a result, increasing numbers of pygmies are falling into alcohol and substance abuse. Our team went to meet them. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Aline Schmidt.

  • Always on standby: French Air Force's MEDEVAC team
When French soldiers are injured during overseas missions, they need to be flown back to France for treatment. That task falls to the little-known MEDEVAC regiment of the French Air Force, based in Villacoublay outside Paris. They need to be ready to embark on a rescue mission night and day. FRANCE 24 went along to the airbase to meet the squadron's only female commander. It's also the first time a TV crew has been allowed to film a simulated rescue operation. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Aline Schmidt.

  • Croatian city of Dubrovnik overwhelmed by mass tourism
Last year, over a million people visited the beautiful Croatian walled city of Dubrovnik. But the UNESCO World Heritage site on the Adriatic coast is becoming a victim of its own success. With thousands of visitors every day, Dubrovnik is suffering a similar fate to other mass tourist destinations throughout Europe. Authorities are now considering options to limit access to the Old City, as this report explains. A report by our France 2 colleague Ambrine Bdida.
A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Jessica Sestili and Aline Schmidt.

  • Coffee machine capsules spark environmental concerns
Coffee machine capsules are very popular in France, where on average one billion pods are consumed every year. The majority are made from aluminium, yet they're more likely to end up in the bin than to be recycled. Brand leaders in the sector have come up with a range of innovative recycling measures and they hope to one day be able to reuse the pods entirely. But in the meantime, pressure is building on manufacturers to clean up their act. This report takes a closer look. A report by our France 2 colleagues: Catherine Rougerie, Elodie Delevoye and Valentin Cruard.
