  • Spain's Doñana National Park is dying of thirst
The Doñana National Park in southern Spain is a UNESCO world heritage site. The park is the largest nature reserve for migratory birds in Europe. But this fragile ecosystem is under threat from illegal farms for the intensive production of red fruits. They need huge amounts of water for irrigation and are using up the park's groundwater. UNESCO is now threatening to withdraw the park from its list of world heritage sites, which would be a first for Europe. Our correspondents report.

  • A lifeline for women facing domestic violence in Pakistan
In Pakistan, the government of Punjab province has announced it will open 36 centres to protect women who are victims of violence. It's a first in a country considered to be one of the world's most dangerous for women. These special centres provide medical and psycho-social aid but also legal assistance. Our correspondents went to visit the first operational centre in Multan, in the south of Punjab province.

  • 'Healing viruses' offer hope in fight against 'superbugs'
Antibiotic resistance is fast becoming a crucial global health problem. It occurs when bacteria evolve and transform into superbugs, which are resistant to existing antibiotics. In such cases, classic treatments are ineffective and patients can be faced with the terrifying prospect of amputation. But alternatives do exist, such as phage therapy, an ancient practice that uses "healing viruses" - but is illegal in Europe. FRANCE 24 finds out more. >> Watch our special report: India's battle against 'superbugs'

  • India's ambitious plan to get its rail network back on track
Stretching over 70,000 miles, India boasts one of the largest rail networks in the world. But it's also the deadliest. Thousands of people die every year in train accidents in India. Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government is making rail safety a priority. It has promised to invest $100 billion over the next five years to help the creaking network get back on its feet - and improve its terrible safety record. Our correspondents report. A programme prepared by Josh Vardey and Aline Schmit.

  • Video: Social inequality on the rise in Tehran
More than 56 million Iranians are eligible to vote in Friday's presidential election. Four candidates are vying for the top job, including incumbent Hassan Rouhani and hardliner Ebrahim Raisi. A key issue for voters in Tehran is the rising inequality between the north and south of the capital. Our correspondent went to meet those on both sides of the divide, from artists concerned about having the freedom to express themselves to workers in poorer neighbourhoods trying to afford basic goods. A programme prepared by Josh Vardey and Laura Burloux.

  • Spain: 'Stolen babies' scandal finally goes to trial
In Spain, tens of thousands of babies were stolen from their parents under the Franco dictatorship and as late as the 1990s. The infants were sold to people who had difficulty having their own children, through networks of nuns, priests and doctors. Now adults, some of these "stolen babies" have fought to track down their biological parents and bring the criminals to justice. Our correspondents met with Ines Madrigal, whose case is the first to go to trial. On France24.com: 40 years on, Franco's ghost still haunts Spain

  • War-torn Yemen sinks deeper into humanitarian crisis
The war in Yemen has just entered its third year. The fighting between Houthi rebels and forces loyal to the exiled president has left at least 10,000 people dead and displaced more than three million others. A Saudi-led coalition has been striking rebel-held zones, but is also accused of bombing civilian areas, including hospitals. Reporters are rarely allowed into Yemen, but thanks to the NGO Doctors Without Borders, our team obtained exclusive footage of the devastation. A programme prepared by Aline Schmidt and Jessica Sestili.

  • Climate change in the US: Tangier Island in Virginia is disappearing
Donald Trump has previously dismissed climate change as a "hoax". Later this month, the US president will announce whether the country will leave or reduce its commitments to the Paris Climate Agreement. But just a few hours from the US capital, Tangier Island in Virginia is slowly disappearing, amid land erosion and a steady rise in sea levels. Despite the obvious effects of climate change, most islanders remain staunch Trump supporters. Our correspondent went to meet them.

Since North Korea accelerated its controversial nuclear weapons programme, China has officially distanced itself from its neighbour. But life on the border between the two countries continues just as before. The Chinese city of Dandong, home to one million people, attracts thousands of tourists who hope to get a rare glimpse into the mysterious dictatorship across the water. Our correspondents report. A programme prepared by Laura Burloux and Jessica Sestili

  • The plight of Togo's so-called 'witch children'
Togo is one of the countries in sub-Saharan Africa where the belief in witchcraft is still widespread. Children who are slightly different from the others are among the worst affected. Whether it's due to a physical or mental handicap, hyperactivity or being intellectually gifted, they are often accused of witchcraft and even held responsible for deaths in their family. These children are then subjected to all sorts of abuse: kidnappings, forced labour and torture. Our correspondents report. Warning: This report contains disturbing footage.
