  • Bangladesh struggles to fight Islamic fundamentalists
Bangladesh has seen an alarming rise in Islamist terrorism in the last two years. Groups affiliated with al Qaeda have murdered so-called "atheist bloggers", publishers and LGBT activists. In addition, the Islamic State group has carried out a string of murders of foreigners and religious minorities. The most high-profile was an attack on a bakery in the capital in July that left 21 people dead. Our correspondents report on what the government is doing to try to stop the violence. A programme prepared by Jessica Sestili and Elom Marcel Toble

  • Video: Young Egyptians willing to risk their lives to reach Europe
With Egypt experiencing its worst economic crisis in decades, thousands of young Egyptians are willing to risk their lives by boarding rickety boats bound for Europe. At the end of September, a fishing boat capsized a few dozen kilometres off the coast and over 160 people died, most of them minors. Our journalists went to Rosetta, on the Mediterranean coast, to meet these young would-be migrants. A programme prepared by Jessica Sestili and Elom Marcel Toble

  • Nigeria: Locals in Niger Delta feel abandoned by oil giants
In Nigeria, there have been 1,600 attacks on oil and gas installations over the past year. Production has been cut by over 20 percent, causing Nigeria to fall behind Angola as Africa's biggest oil producer. As a result, oil giants are cutting back on hiring staff, which has left communities in the oil-rich Delta state feeling they've been dealt a major injustice. Our correspondents report. A programme prepared by Jessica Sestili and Elom Marcel Toble

  • Video: Ukrainians express shock as politicians report vast wealth
It's been three years since the start of street protests in Ukraine that led to the fall of the government. A key demand of protesters — to stamp out corruption — has been overshadowed by the conflict in the east. But corruption has become a hot topic again: Public officials now have to declare their wealth online, a move to expose those who have grown rich illegally. Many Ukrainians are now shocked at the wealth on display. Our correspondent reports. A programme prepared by Jessica Sestili and Elom Marcel Toble

  • FRANCE 24 meets Iraqi civilians fleeing fighting in Mosul
As Iraqi forces battle to retake Mosul from the Islamic State group, the population is escaping. More than 60,000 civilians have already fled Mosul and found refuge in camps on the city's outskirts. This is no doubt just the beginning: more than a million people live in Iraq's second city, and NGOs fear a major humanitarian crisis. FRANCE 24's special correspondents followed some of the displaced people on their exodus. A programme prepared by Jessica Sestili and Elom Marcel Toble

  • Video: Colombians more divided than ever on FARC peace process
In a referendum on October 2, Colombians narrowly rejected a peace deal signed between the government and FARC guerrillas, deeming it too lenient on the rebels. Despite this, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos was later awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the historic deal. Last weekend, a new version of the text was agreed upon. However, it remains to be seen whether it will be approved by parliament and accepted by the population, which is more divided than ever. Our correspondents report. Programme prepared by Elom Marcel Toble and Charlotte Prudhomme.

  • Video: For many Rio residents, Olympic dream turns into a nightmare
It's been three months since the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro hosted the Summer Olympics, but the euphoria generated by the event is already a distant memory. State coffers are empty and a severe economic crisis is taking its toll. Many employees are still waiting to be paid and public services are crumbling. Our correspondents have been to meet locals for whom the Olympic dream has turned into a nightmare. Programme prepared by Elom Marcel Toble and Jessica Sestili.

  • Burma: Changes slow to come by, one year after Suu Kyi's victory
This November marks one year since Burma entered a new political era with opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy (NLD) party winning historic parliamentary elections. The Nobel laureate is now the country's de facto leader and remains popular, although the military junta retains significant powers. But some Burmese say they are still waiting for meaningful change in their lives.
Meanwhile, fighting continues in remote regions and Rohingya Muslims are still being persecuted. Our correspondents report.
Programme prepared by Elom Marcel Toble and Jessica Sestili.

  • COP22: How Morocco is going green
As the 22nd UN climate change conference, or COP22, continues in the Moroccan city of Marrakech, we look at how Morocco is becoming a model on the African continent when it comes to fighting climate change. Our correspondents report on the kingdom's eco-progress, from wind turbines to solar panels and "green" landfills. A programme prepared by Jessica Sestili and Elom Marcel Toble

  • Video: Survivors of November 13 Paris attacks remain traumatised
On Friday, just outside Paris, a minute's silence was held at the Stade de France stadium in memory of the 130 victims of the November 13 terror attacks. It marked the beginning of a weekend of low-key commemorations, one year after the worst attacks in France’s history. Beyond the physical injuries, survivors were left with deep psychological scars such as post-traumatic stress syndrome. For them, the healing process is long. Our reporters went to meet some of those directly affected. A programme prepared by Jessica Sestili and Elom Marcel Toble
