  • France's uphill battle against supermarket food waste
Every year in France, seven million tons of food are thrown away by individuals, supermarkets and markets - waste which represents a loss of more than 400 euros per year per household. A law passed in February 2016 requires supermarkets to donate their unsold products to charities and food banks. But it's an uphill battle as the fines are not yet applicable. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Laura Burloux

  • Illegal cocoa farmers evicted from protected forest in Ivory Coast
In this edition we report on the thousands of people evicted from Ivory Coast’s forest of Mount Peko. Most of them are farmers from Burkina Faso who took advantage of political turmoil to establish illegal cocoa plantations. Their eviction earlier this year was part of the government’s efforts to save rapidly disappearing forests. But the authorities have been criticised for not ensuring nearby villages would have enough shelter and food for the evicted farmers. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Laura Burloux and Claire Pryde.

  • What next for migrant children after France clears Calais 'Jungle' camp?
As French authorities move in to clear the huge migrant camp near the northern city of Calais, questions remain about the fate of the children who've been living in the "Jungle". Although the authorities say they're doing their best to get these unaccompanied minors to safety, children's advocates are worried. They fear losing track of the minors they've been helping and warn the youngsters could fall into the hands of people traffickers and violent gangs. Our team reports from Calais. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Laura Burloux and Claire Pryde.

  • Revisiting a dark chapter in France and Cameroon's history
In this edition we revisit a little-known period in the history of France and Cameroon. In the 1950s and 1960s, the French army fought alongside Cameroonian government forces against members of the leftist UPC movement, which it labelled as "rebels". FRANCE 24 spoke to a crucial witness from this period, a former French soldier sent to Cameroon from 1962 to 1964, who has decided to speak out. A report filmed in France and Cameroon by Nicolas Germain, with Marcel Amoko, Zigoto Tchaya, Melina Huet and Sylvain Rousseau.
A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Christopher Davis.

  • German authorities struggle with radical Salafist preachers
Hundreds of young Germans have joined the ranks of the Islamic State group. Many of them were radicalised in Germany by Salafist preachers well known to the authorities. Our team in Germany met a father whose two sons left for Syria and never came back, as well as a mother (pictured) whose son did not join the IS group but is accused of carrying out a bombing on a Sikh community. Both parents want the authorities to put more radical preachers behind bars. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Laura Burloux and Claire Pryde.

  • US presidential race: Women voters divided over Trump
US presidential candidate Donald Trump's recent lewd remarks about women have no doubt alienated many female voters. Both he and his rival Hillary Clinton need to get women voters on their side ahead of the November 8 election. But some of them still support the controversial Republican candidate. Some female voters still support Trump, despite him bragging about sexual assault in a recently leaked video and several women accusing him of unwanted advances. Others will vote for Hillary Clinton but promise that it's a one-off, for one election only. Our correspondents report from Washington, DC and the swing state of Pennsylvania.

  • Chinese authorities clamp down on tiny Jewish community
In China, only five religions are officially recognised by the state and Judaism is not one of them. The eastern city of Kaifeng is home to a tiny Jewish community that dates back a thousand years. But in recent months, local authorities have erased all traces of their existence and heritage. The Kaifeng Jews are forced to practice their religion in secret and some have even left the country. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Elom Marcel Toble and Claire Pryde.

  • Video: Parisians wary as first 'shooting gallery' opens
France has opened its first-ever supervised drug injection facility, a safe space for addicts to be able to take their narcotics. The Paris site, based in the north of the city, comes thirty years after Switzerland became the first nation to successfully open such a facility. Locals living near the "shooting gallery", however, are less than enthusiastic. Our reporters Luke Shrago and Jean Barrère went to meet them. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Aline Schmidt.

  • Haiti: Hunger and disease in the wake of Hurricane Matthew
In Haiti, the total number of victims of Hurricane Matthew now stands at over 1,000. Two weeks after the disaster, locals are still facing the consequences. In the absence of safe drinking water, the spread of cholera has become an urgent issue. In the south of the country, 20 people have already died from it, and almost 300 are reportedly ill. The wind has also decimated the harvests of corn and bananas, sparking fears of a famine that could last several months. Our team on the ground reports. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Aline Schmidt

  • Conflict escalates in Kashmir
Kashmir is split between Indian and Pakistani rule, but both countries claim the region in its entirety and have gone to war three times over it. On Wednesday, Indian security forces killed two gunmen, ending a three-day standoff on the outskirts of the regional capital Srinagar. Our team explains why the conflict has escalated in recent months, following the killing of a popular rebel commander by Indian soldiers. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Laura Burloux and Claire Pryde.
