The defense began its case shortly afterwards, calling up a former co-worker who testified about what a caring and loving nurse Lindsay was to her patients, and then her sister and mother took the stand. They both described Lindsay’s unraveling demeanor starting in the months leading up to the killings, her mom saying she even warned her and the children’s father, Patrick, that she had thoughts of harming the children.

In an interview with Esquire magazine, Brad Pitt admitted that he is off the wagon after 7 years sober. The actor saying he can have a few drinks, and after a few “overconfident” incidents, has decided to continue drinking, but “not in big quantities.” Pitt’s admission has rekindled an ongoing debate among recovering alcoholics, with Alcoholics Anonymous maintaining that “no one who has become an alcoholic has ever ceased to be an alcoholic” while other organizations support a moderation management technique, similar to what Pitt describes.

A 13-year-old girl is being hailed a hero after managing to call 9-1-1 after 39-year-old Chad Hickman came into her home and killed every member of her family, including her 16-year-old brother, 40-year-old mother, and her mom’s boyfriend. The teen identified the shooter which led police to find the body of another 53-year-old man and ultimately Hickman and another 29-year-old victim. Investigators are still trying to piece together this heinous killing spree that left 6 people dead and the surviving teen in critical condition.

It’s a shocking headline this morning, the father of actress Hayden Panettiere announcing her death, saying she was “an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her.” While there is no official cause of death yet, Panettiere had just released a memoir in May where she wrote about her struggles with postpartum depression, addiction, the sudden loss of her brother and painfully handing over full custody of her daughter to her ex-fiancee. Tributes have been pouring in online; friends and fellow actors expressing disbelief that Panettiere could be gone so soon.
