Ca'Marion Pawnell has been charged with second degree murder because it was his gun, stored under his mattress, that police say his 10-year-old used to shoot baby Kiyomi Parker.

Just four days after the last day of classes, an exterminator investigating a “foul odor” found the shocking source of the smell inside a New York City school’s chimney: a decomposing body. Investigators are now trying to determine if any construction workers in the area are missing, as the school was under renovations. Police are also looking into whether foul play may be involved. While there were no students or teachers inside the building at the time of the macabre discovery, several students have told reporters they’d been complaining of a bad smell for weeks leading up to the last day of school.

Despite efforts by Florida officials warning residents and visitors about the threat of alligators during mating season, there have been three separate attacks in that state in just one week. The most recent attack happened on Sunday, when a 31-year-old woman hiking with her boyfriend and best friend, died after a massive alligator first bit off one arm, and then attacked her second, as her boyfriend desperately called 9-1-1 for help. She died on her way to the hospital. Two others were injured by alligators including a 19-year-old snorkeler and a young boy who was bitten in the hand while fishing. Florida officials are telling folks: “Assume alligators are present in any body of water in Florida.”
