WFPB? SOS-free? Oil free? PlantPure Communities shares their culinary philosophy as well as some quick, simple healthy meal ideas.
The nonprofit organization PlantPure Communities (PPC) works to build stronger, healthier, and more sustainable communities through research, policy, and program activities. They collaborate with local community organizations to educate people about the health and environmental benefits of a whole food, plant-based (WFPB) diet.
PPC was formed following the release of the 2015 documentary, PlantPure Nation, which you can now watch free on YouTube. This film demonstrates how political and economic interests suppressed the message of plant-based nutrition for decades and concludes with a call-to-action for people to form local plant-based support groups called "pods". Plant Pure Communities offers a wealth of resources to support these local groups.
Colin Campbell, PhD, is the Science Advisor to PlantPure Communities. He is co-author of the New York Times bestselling book The China Study, is a bio/nutritional researcher with over 60 years of experience in the field of nutritional science. Dr. Campbell is the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University, and is the founder of the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and the online Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate in partnership with eCornell.

In honor of National Animal Rights Day this Sunday, June 6th, I'm reading this article by Hope Bohanec of United Poultry Concerns and The Humane Hoax. Hope discusses the flagrant humane-washing in the animal agriculture industry and longs for the day when slaughterhouses are relics of a violent past.
Hope has been involved in animal protection and environmental activism for 30 years and has published the book The Ultimate Betrayal: Is There Happy Meat? She is the Projects Manager for the national non-profit United Poultry Concerns (UPC) and the host of the Hope for the Animals Podcast - one of my favorites!
Over the last three decades, Hope has given countless presentations, written articles, and organized hundreds of events including UPC's annual Conscious Eating Conference and the Sonoma County VegFest. And she's one of the key organizers of HumaneHoax.org a collaborative effort of vegan activists, writers, and organizations who are working together to reveal the truth about "humane" animal agriculture.

Nigel Barrella explains why the Good Food Institute pushed back on the National Milk Producers Federation's desperate attempts to have plant-based milks labelled as "imitation" cows milk.
The Good Food Institute is an international nonprofit reimagining meat production in order to make the global food system better for the planet, people, and animals. GFI understands that with "alternative proteins" we can mitigate the environmental impact of our food system, decrease the risk of zoonotic disease, and ultimately feed more people with fewer resources. Visit GFI.org for more information.

Geoff Regier rescued a chicken, Penny, from an egg farm. Listen to her story, her transformation, and sadly, her eulogy.
Geoff Regier is an animal advocate who used to work on a small family farm in BC, Canada, He later found his way to veganism, then animal rights activism and then an undercover investigator with Mercy for Animals. He documented and exposed the abuse farm animals suffer every day in modern farms and slaughterhouses across Canada.
In 2019, Geoff was part of a team that rescued Penny and other hens from an egg farm in BC. She, and many others, had fallen through the slats in the floor, down into the manure pit. She was completely stuck in the manure, unable to move or even stand, she was so weak. She was simply left for dead, to drown in all the excrement, or die of thirst or starvation. Geoff brought Penny home, got her the veterinary care she needed and restored her to health – and her transformation was amazing! You can watch it on YouTube, it's called Penny's Story. It's beautiful!
Chickens are such amazing little people! Yet, sadly, some of the most abused, and misunderstood as well. If you want to learn more about chickens, register for the Humane Hoax's free chicken webinar tomorrow, or view the videos at United Poultry Concerns or The Humane Hoax. Concerns and the Humane Hoax

Some vegans are enthusiastic about lab grown meat, and some, not so much. Dr. Sailesh Rao from Climate Healers shares some thoughts on cultured or lab grown meat.
Dr. Sailesh Rao is the Founder and Executive Director of Climate Healers, a non-profit dedicated towards healing the Earth's climate. Dr. Rao is the author of two books, Carbon Dharma: The Occupation of Butterflies and Carbon Yoga: The Vegan Metamorphosis, and an Executive Producer of four documentaries, The Human Experiment (2013), Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret (2014), What The Health (2017), and A Prayer for Compassion (2019).
Dr. Rao is a Human, Earth and Animal Liberation (HEAL) activist, husband, dad and since 2010, a star-struck grandfather. He has promised his granddaughter, Kimaya, that the world will be largely Vegan before she turns 16 in 2026, so that people will stop eating her relatives, the animals. He has faith that humanity will transform to keep his pinky promise to Kimaya, not just for ethical reasons, but also out of sheer ecological necessity.
